Go to an outside show with tailgating.

fantastic replies. i live in nova scotia and i wonder if many know that his grandfather lived in nova scotia. here's a link about one of his songs - Son of a Son of a Sailor
http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=4948
i have always enjoyed jimmy's music but just got really into it the last few years. listen to radiomargaritaville all the time. after reading some of the replies so far it seems frisco is talked about the most and i have never been there. but texas is 2nd as i like to visit spots i haven't been to before.
hopefully some new sites put up soon as airfare and hotel has to be booked
and heres hopes i may be able to see my 1st buffett tailgating party, get dressed up and enjoy it with a bunch of others.

Any venue that can peacefully bring folks from Wisconsin and Illinois together must have something magical going for it. Also, with Chicago right there for Jimmy to include Alpine suggests that he thinks there's something to playing in the middle of Wisconsin farmland.
Alpine Valley.
That being said enjoying a venue and a show is all about showing up with the right frame of mind and hooking up with people of the same ilk. I would venture to say that all the tour venues offer a great experience with fellow Buffett faithful.
Cheers

I've never been to Cincy but Jimmy seems to always put an extra special show on there. Great Woods is always awesome, but that is at the end of the summer. Wherever you decide to go, you will have a blast - you'll be surrounded by Parrotheads!!!Capt.Flock wrote:Cincy where it all began.

Alpine! Nothing is really even close unless you have the pesos to see a private fund raising show. If you live in Windsor, then you could just roll up to Detroit for the Weekday show. It is tame but still a great first time BUFFETT experience.
Anyway you roll with the punches, you will win.
Welcome to the the first day of your new existence!

Re: 1st Timer Concert Goer
So many great suggestions have been thrown out there for you to mull over till all the shows are announced and tics become available.
Understand one thing, be forwarned, this is the beginning of an obsession or perhaps addiction if you will for you. Once bitten there's no going back. Where ever you go you will undoubtedly see the funnest concert and have the most fun (both legal and illegal) that you have ever had at a tail gate party.
Parrotheads are one of a kind and there is no other species like them. Enjoy yourself and check your inhibitions at the gate. Welcome to the Phlock!!

In that case, it would be easier for a New England show first, but amphitheatres would be the best bet for a first concert.Canadian Parrethead wrote:fantastic replies. i live in nova scotia and i wonder if many know that his grandfather lived in nova scotia. here's a link about one of his songs - Son of a Son of a Sailor

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Clearly, ALPINE
But depending on the announced schedule, you could take a week and do Chicago, Cincy, Indianapolis, and Alpine (East Troy) in a blitzkrieg on your liver.
BTW - I've done Alpine, Great Woods, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Las Vegas... every show has its charms but the tailgate IS the phenomenon - the actual music you can hear better on Radio Margaritaville than first row. The best tailgates are Alpine & GW hands down... it is a debate held right here annually and no other venue gets as many folks riled up. You can't miss with either, but I'd take Alpine every time.

Whew... Tickets DONT go on sale for Cincy yet (that way I have a little more time to debate whether I'm going this year or not
)
That said... if you live in Chicago area Alpine gets my vote... The tailgates in Toyota Park and Tinley combined didn't hold a candle to the tailgate at Alpine
