CAskier wrote:Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like we can count on Guadalajara Grill unless we're less than 30 people. After asking for a manager and being rudely hung up on by the person who didn't speak English very well :x , I called back and got the following information:
The bar area only holds about 30 people and I am hoping we can get more than 30 people together.
They have a room you can book (no charge) but they don't have a bar in that room and there are no separate checks. Besides, it would basically just be a bunch of people standing around a room.
They don't seem very interested in having a large group of people, spending a lot of money on booze, in their establishment.

So, it looks like we need to find a plan B. Any ideas?
Bummer, heaven forbid we spend a lot of money at their restaurant on a tuesday, (I'm sure they are already booked full...)

I can get this going if you PM me with your number and the e-mail address you would want me to send it to (nothing posted on the net of course). Also if you are planning on attending, could you just PM me with a count, even if you don't want to be on the cell list. This way we can get an estimate of people who would attend for planning purposes.

Cliff, as far as I know the only camping in the area is at Mt Diablo State Park, and officially they don't allow alcohol. Besides, I don't know about the rest, but I have to w**k the next day.

CASkier, I sent you a PM a while back. Did you get it?

Sorry, didn't get it until yesterday but I sent you one back.

Okay, so I may have found a place. :pirate: I found it online and have never been there so if anyone has, let me know if it won't be good. The name of the place is AJ's Sports Pub & Grill. Here is a portion of the email I received from them...
"Hi Eric,You have found your parrothead paradise... We can accommodate 208 people and we're only about 7 minutes from Sleeptrain... maybe even less.. We have 16 beers on tap a full bar (with lots of rum) and a full kitchen...We even have a private room in the back that can accommodate a good 50-75 people.". (I must say, a much warmer welcome than Guadalajara, and I love Guadalajara)

Has anyone seen this place, or even better, been to it? Being only 7 minutes from Sleep Train it may be the closest place that can handle a large number of people. I've emailed them back letting them know that they are on the "short list" and inquiring about any special deals they may be able to offer that day. They have requested approximate time of arrival (what time do you open?) and number of poeple (Sleep Train holds what, 12,500?). The cell and email list may be a good idea to get going around now that we have a potential place. PM nerdboy if you want to be on the list or PM/email/reply to me.

I went to a show in Chicago one year and they had busses to the show, granted it was 30 minutes away not 7. Is that something we should try to arrange? I'm not sure what parking is like at AJ's, I'll try to find out, but I've heard parking is horrendous at the pavilion.

I checked AJ's out a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for spots to party. It used to be a Mexican resturant and now it's a sports bar. It's about the sive of the sports bar by the Shoreline Pavillion and if they are willing to host the party I say go for it. It is close to the Sleeptrain Pavillon and I'm all for it.

Loren,

No, I didn't. Did you have a band/person in mind? Either email me or here is the guys email address. He goes by Andy. ajsportspub@yahoo.com Tell him you're with the group trying to organize the party before the Jimmy Buffett concert.

BUMP, Just getting this to the top. Where are all the Northern California Parrotheads. It's pretty quiet for only being two months away. Looks like AJ's is going to be the pre-party place. Anymore info?

No response yet from them on my email, asking about adding live music. I'll probably try once more.

Pirateparrot -
I have to agree with you that I'm a little disappointed that we're only up to 36 at this point. I'm sure there will be some last minute attendees but we definitely need to try to get the word out more. I've emailed AJ's to let them know where we currently stand. They're going to put together some kind of drink special(s) and I'll post details as I get them. I'll also have details on what time they'll be open for us. What time will everyone be getting there? I know I won't be able to leave Napa until probably 2:00 so won't be there until probably 3:00 but I know the party will be going strong by the time I get there.

IMPORTANT: Not that I'm worried but AJ's says the police are rather strict regarding parking and people drinking outside of the venue. We need to make sure to keep all of the drinking INSIDE the venue and make sure you park in a designated spot that is public parking.

Again, not worried but have to be able to say I told everyone.

Decided to buy lawn seats for this one ... and take my whole family ... for my 40th (which is the 23rd ) !
So Hubby and I will be there with my Mom and Dad, my brother and his wife and their 2 kids (6 and 9).
I wanted to take just the kids and buy regular seats but ... decided PARTY ON THE LAWN this year!
They have all been told they must dress accordingly ! No boring attire aloud !!

Now ... if we could only tailgate ... :x

edit --> need to read more about AJ's ... going back to read the WHOLE thread !

second edit --> ok read the WHOLE thread ... can keets go to AJ's ?? Or because its a "bar" they couldn't?
Just making sure before I add to the head count ... :)
