Sorry if this was brought up once before, but I just read on yahoo.com SOMEBODY'S list of top 25 rock stars over the age of 50.
It shouldn't come as a surprise, but these baffoons didn't even mention Jimmy.
Some of the ones on this "list" are darn good, while others, I.M.O., don't belong there.
Here's the link-I would appreciate your thoughts on this topic. Thanks.
I don't usually like these types of lists. They are usually one person's opinion. They are like my top 25 rockers over the age of 50. That's just my opinion.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
I've never really understood why people tend to get so worked up over these lists. I'm a fan of Buffett's and feel that's good enough. Plus, I didn't really expect to see him included on a list of "rockers".
Tom Waits????
Patti Smith?????
Graham Parker?????????
Richard Thompson????????????????????????????????????????
It looks like he googled a list of 50+ people who have had a record contract, threw darts, and tried to put them in some kind of order. Do half of these people even tour on a regular basis??????????????????
How is ERIC CLAPTON not on this list??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Neil Young ahead of Springsteen? Puleeeze! I've seen both in concert in the past 5 years and I wouldn't waste my money on another ticket to see Neil. At best he's a mediocre guitar player with an annoying off pitch live concert voice. Of course it mattered little since it was turned up SO LOUD it was mostly distortion, even for those of us sitting 20 rows back.
I feel like printing out this list just so I could wipe my a$$ with it.

Fact of the matter is they do tour and record. Just because you may not have heard of them or don't deem them important enough doesn't mean they aren't worthy of mention. After all, it's just a list. For the record, Richard Thompson is one of the best guitarists out there these days.

Tom Waits was on tour, albeit a short one, last year.
Patti Smith, guess she needed rent money because induction into the HoF doesn't come with a stipend..
as for the other two, haven't googled them so no idea.
but lists are opinions until there is a universal method of quantifying the qualifications to be on one.
I'm not a big fan of these kind of lists, usually it's one person or very few that get a say in this kind of stuff and it sometimes ends up being biased with their own dislikes and likes because they want their vote instead of thinking about the rest of the population around them.
