I've been to 16 venues - I think but have lost track - but have never made it to Alpine. Is it really as good a venue as everyone says?

Hey All,
We're driving up from ATL and staying in East Troy. We plan to hang at Sammy's Place on the square in East Troy on Friday night with our group from Georgia, Wisconsin and Minnesota...yeah...we can all blend just fine in a Buffett outing
. A friend of ours is playing at Sammy's, they play Buffett and other classic rock type stuff. The party at Sammy's is Buffett themed, so stop in and check it out if you're staying in the area. Sammy's is a cool, historic bar in ET, serving everything from your favorite brew to their signature martinis, very casual.

We all think Alpine is fun. Quite the land to get lost in. Huge tailgate fun.

It was my first look baby that's all it took

Lati2d....Welcome to the madness that is Alpine. Top 5 venue( not private) in country no doubt.
We have had a few cocktails at that bar in the square over the years..... good spot. Try the pizza.........DRIVE CAREFULLY!
The ALPINE VALLEY RESORT will be in full effect again this year with pre-party Friday nite and pool party SATURDAY prior to the parking lot.
We have seen this forecast many times and it usually means a crazy after party fun time! Naked touch football-- mudslides---buried volkswagons etc... A little slower tailgate start but still solid.
Hopefully Jimmy does not catch a cold again! More importantly we hope he starts the show out in the crowd as he did in the monsoon 10 years ago!
Look us up if you all stumble out the back of the venue to the resort. We will surely get you back to the right locale by Sunday afternoon!.
This is our 13th year there and along with all our PHRIENDS it never disappoints.
...grandfather always told me if i went down I might never come back again...

We saw Boat Drunks & Nadirah & co @ Joe's on Weed (before Toyota) and it was an awesome show. Nadirah Shakoor, Michael Utley, & Robert Greenidge were joined occasionally by Ralph MacDonald for a paultry $10 cover.FunkyBunny wrote:My current beef with Two Seasons bowl is they're charging $25 for entrance (half the price of the JB ticket!), but not including any drinks or food. meanwhile, Hemmingway's -a 20 min drive from our hotel- is offering food and drinks. and Designated driver incentives.
*grumble*
Even @ $25, easily worth the price, even to a cheap b@st@rd like me!
But if that's not enough to make you happy about it, ask Two Seasons how much of the ticket goes to the Walworth County abused children charity & mentally deduct that to feel better about seeing a great performance at a bargain price.
Then ask Hemmingway's who they are donating to.

Re: Who's going to Alpine Valley 8-29-09!!??
First off, thanks Jolena for posting, we are at max peak and I want to make sure everyone coming from BN gets in for the "Alpine family reunion"! The only reason I am now posting is I got called about the latest post about Hemingways.
Now to address ExpatriatedAmerican's post:
Those who know me, the band and have attended functions in the past already know that we always "Party for a purpose". As is our norm, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN, the restaurant and THE SOUTH OF DISORDER BAND provide porceeds through door charges, raffles, buy-ins, etc etc etc. I have NEVER had to advertise this, it has been a expectation and norm of those who have attended in the past and know of us and our charity work.
Our charity over the last 2 years has and is "The Time Is Now" - www.timeisnowtohelp.org. All proceeds go to worthwhile and extremely important organization, especially in today's economy. Additionally, their food pantry is located next door to us and all extra food from these types of events go to them also.
As far as The Boat Drunks, 2 Seasons Bowl, etc... those that are going there, have a great time and party hard for a purpose!
Enough said. This isn't a competition for business. There are plenty of phlock members going to different parties Friday night. Heck, if I could, I would be doing the rounds also. Go where you want, have a great time and don't drive drunk! We hope you stop by and see us also!
I need to get back to making sure we all have a great time this weekend. Everyone pray to the tiki gods for fair weather! We may need to sacrifice a virgin or two on Friday hehe!
See you soon!

Re: Who's going to Alpine Valley 8-29-09!!??
Hey Everyone - My family has spent many summer evenings on our porch that we've wrapped in parrot lights listening to Jimmy's concerts but we've never been able to actually afford to attend one. This spring we gave our son an overnight trip to Alpine & 2 tickets to the concert for his graduation. What a fun gift to give - I wish you could have seen his face while he jumped up & down yelling "We're going to see Jimmy, Mom!" over & over! We're the 2 biggest parrot heads in our family of 6 & we can't believe we're really going. We're driving 6 hours to get there so we want to make the most of this. Tailgating & meeting everyone sounds like fun, but this will probably be the only one we'll ever get to & we want to remember it! We're all about the music & the show this weekend. I haven't been to a concert in almost 30 years (never to Alpine) & my son's never been to one so we're a little lost here. We were only able to afford lawn seats so could someone please tell me how early we need to get in line to get a decent spot? Should we bother with lawn chairs since the hill is so steep? I take it that any water bottles, coolers, etc. we use while waiting in line will need to be returned to the car before we go in? Will we be able to buy food while waiting in line? I'm worried about the parking too since I read the Alpine reviews on LiveNation - also getting crushed in the GA area. Any ideas there? I'm embarrassed to admit that I've hardly done any city driving in a couple of decades so this could be pretty interesting - we're staying in Brookfield. I appreciate any and all help. You all seem like a great bunch of parrotheads. Two and a half days!!!

No you can't bring any type of beverages into Alpine and the website lists approved items like blankets, beach lawn chairs (do not waste your time as you probably will not be sitting much), inflatables, etc. Parking is tight but for the most part your car shouldn't get dinged up. We took my truck and knock on wood we did not receive any damage last year. THe hill is steep so control your drinking a few hours prior as to not to have to pee very often during the show.FinnsU.P. wrote:Hey Everyone - My family has spent many summer evenings on our porch that we've wrapped in parrot lights listening to Jimmy's concerts but we've never been able to actually afford to attend one.
