What the hell am I saying.

The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

My wife called me to the other room earlier saying 'hey, never seen a Jimmy commercial before'. It appeared to be a Ticketmaster commercial for the Toyota Park shows during the 10:00 news.

Re: Who's going to Toyota Park on August 15th?
Help me!
Hey everybody! My wife and I are hoping to get tickets and make the show on 8/15. Our 5 year anniversary is 8/14 and we thought what better way to celebrate than seeing Jimmy perform! We live in Indy and normally just go to the concert here, but since he is playing on a Saturday in Chicago we are hoping to get tickets. Anyway I had a couple questions.... Is there any type of lawn at Toyota Park or is it all seating? Also (and more importantly) do any of you know any hotels who provide a party bus to the show or any form of transportation that would work out good to take to the show. I want to try to avoid driving if possible. I saw something on the venue's website about public transportation that has a stop at the stadium. How do you guys think Toyota Park vs. Indy compares?
Anyway any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Who's going to Toyota Park on August 15th?
There is no lawn at Toyota. It is a soccer stadium. They cover the floor and put seating up on field. The seating around the bowl is all reserved seating and from what I recall, it was bleachers.
There are several hotels near Midway airport, although I don't know about party busses from hotels to the venue. The way I understand the public transportation is there is a bus route that stops at the stadium. If you go to www.transitchicago.com, there is a trip planner and it can guide as to which trains/buses to take from point to point.
I have been to Noblesville several times although most were on a large group bus. When on the bus, we mostly arrived to late to do any real tailgating. The tailgating at Toyota was great last year although the parking was very tight and hard to maneuver around the parking areas to visit.
I enjoyed Toyota Park last year. Good clean venue, short beer lines, short bathroom lines. I think you would enjoy it but is a far different experience than sitting on the lawn of at a shed.

And then I heard a similar commercial on local Chicago radio this morning. Seems like more marketing than I've seen/heard in the past. Wonder if last year's glut of tickets available close to the concerts has events being marketed more aggressively this year?looking4OPH wrote:My wife called me to the other room earlier saying 'hey, never seen a Jimmy commercial before'. Tickets/Shows are still not listed on TicketMaster. I see the Indy show is now listed.

I would like to go to the Aug. 8th concert. I live in West Michigan and plan on bringing my camper down for the concert. Can anybody tell me where a good campground is close to Toyota Park? I plan on doing some serious tailgating for this one.

Don't know about campgrounds-they did allow camping at Toyota Park last year, but it was expensive.
And do check out the thread for the 8/8 concert: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=74887&p=3397719#p3397719

Toyota Park is in a very urban area. I think you would have to travel out a little ways to find a campground but I dont know for sure.Chuck_Frank wrote:I would like to go to the Aug. 8th concert. I also got the email from Livenation so I guess both options are available. What a choice! Re: Who's going to Toyota Park on August 15th?
Thanks for the info Derek! I did a littlle research and found out there is a bus from Chicago Midway to Toyota Park (about 15 minutes away). So I am thinking about staying in a hotel in the city, taking the orange line to Midway and hoping on a bus at Midway. Has anyone ever done that? I read that the first bus leaves midway 2 hours before the show and then there is another one every 20 minutes after that. Of course that doesn't leave much time to tailgate and I wouldn't have my own vehicle to tailgate out of at the concert...I wonder if I could drink on the L-Train and a city bus in downtown Chicago on my way there? Hmmm...so many options and decisions to be made.
What does everyone think the chances are of there being a presale this year?

Re: Who's going to Toyota Park on August 15th?
Check the service to the train after the show, I thought the bus ended @10pm..... it should not be a bad cab fare.
There is also express bus schedule to the venue from the train, but check the schedule

Last year's presale started on Friday morning, with regular sales beginning on Monday, so there's still a chance.....
