conman155 wrote:Thanks for the info Derek! I did a littlle research and found out there is a bus from Chicago Midway to Toyota Park (about 15 minutes away). So I am thinking about staying in a hotel in the city, taking the orange line to Midway and hoping on a bus at Midway. Has anyone ever done that? I read that the first bus leaves midway 2 hours before the show and then there is another one every 20 minutes after that. Of course that doesn't leave much time to tailgate and I wouldn't have my own vehicle to tailgate out of at the concert...I wonder if I could drink on the L-Train and a city bus in downtown Chicago on my way there? Hmmm...so many options and decisions to be made.

What does everyone think the chances are of there being a presale this year?
We're staying in the city as well, we'll have 4 so maybe we can schedule a shuttle or something.

I have made a reservation at Hampton Inn (oakbrook/westchester). $89 reserved or $79 prepaid plus taxes. It is in a little office park about 10 miles from the venue. Stayed there last year and it was great. Easy drive in and back. Getting back was little tought because of the way I got routed outed of the parking area but we made it. Got the GPS this year just in case. I will also priceline for a room in the city. We enjoy heading to city several times a year. We looking to take our daughter to LP Zoo on Sunday.

Thanks for all the information everybody!

Veins...I might be interested in getting a shuttle or something. I plan to get my tickets first and the hotel next. I hope I can get tickets on Monday morning, although I'm a little nervous.

Derek are you in Plymouth, IN? I grew up in Warsaw....

Thanks again for the info everyone!

:D :D :D I knew I could count on you for a wise response!

Expect Toyota Park to update their website shortly regarding this concert-I am told they are meeting tomorrow morning to discuss the parking lot and logistics, and they expect to post information afterwards.

The person who emailed me mentioned that they had lots of feedback saying just that-I suggested that those who get there early need more room than the late arrivals because the early birds are more likely to have more elaborate tailgating plans. I was told this is on the agenda for today's meeting at Toyota Park.

I got a similar email back and I responded with the exact same feedback re ealry birds getting more room. I began listing off what I bring stopping just short of 1500lbs of sand . . . . Somehow I didn't feel letting them know I was THAT guy was such a wise move.

By the way we need to begin making the concerted effort of whooping the Alpine thread in pg number as we do every year . . . .

I also said I would be willing to pay for that space if it were made available . . . . Sorry if I screw that up for anyone but I can just take a small collection from my group to cover that. . . .

So it looks like there won't be a presale...surely we would have seen something by now if there was going to be one, right??

Isn't Brookfield Zoo free? I heard that one time, but have never checked it out.

I'm still toying with the idea of staying around Midway Airport (4 miles from Toyota Park) and taking the bus to the show. I read on Toyota's site that the bus leaves Midway 2 hours before the show and then leaves Toyota 30 minutes after the show is over. If I stayed at Midway, I would have access to take the train into downtown Chicago too. Does anyone have any hotel suggestions around Midway? Has anyone taking the bus from Midway to Toyota? It is $1.75 to take the bus!

I booked at the Fairfield Inn. Kinda pricey but for the convience and since I just won the tickets yesterday to the show it kinda negated that factor out.

We haven't been to Brookfield Zoo in several years. We may consider that.

Brookfield Zoo is very nice, but not free. Lincoln Park Zoo is free.

That's right it's Lincoln Park that's free.

I saw Farfield as well, it seems like a pretty good option based on convience...

So, I am trying to figure out....were there port-o-johns on the main floor level anywhere? If there were I missed them. Took me a half hour to climb the stairs and get to the bathroom...climb back down and to my seat. I left when intermission started and got back and Jimmy was playing already. Not cool. I know alot of people here loved toyota...I was not one of them. The tailgate totally rocked!!!! But after getting inside and from where I was sitting I wasn't feeling the love. I couldn't hear anything well either. Only knew the words because I knew the songs but couldn't make out anything he said between songs. So, I sat on main floor last year. What were seats on the side like? Sections 104 or 131? Do you have any room to move? Were people dancing anywhere? Does anyone dance anywhere other than when there are lawn seats? Maybe that was my problem....I was going forth with my lawn etiquette (sp) and maybe I was suppose to be sitting with my hands folded nicely on my lap like those around me? Yeah......can't do that. Where's the fun in that? :wench:

Mega bus Chicago-Detroit: $1.00-$40.00, depending on how soon you book.

Return trip : The same

Crashing w/ BNers in Metro Detroit : $0 - ???? (depending on BNers house or sharing motel room.

Dancing on the lawn at DTE/Pine Knob August 13 2009? Just like the old days at Tinley Park or Alpine!

Oh yeah, the kids..........
