Camden NJ - Tailgate Ticket question
I was really happy to hear the show is back in Camden this year (I can't stand Phily for Buffett shows, but that's just my opinion. I think the pre-concert fun is better in Camden as well). Even more surprised to see two shows. I have been to 20 Buffett shows (last years Atlantic City show marked my 20th!). I tailgate every year, but have never tailgated (parked) in the section of the lot where things are just "off the hook" (for lack of a better way to describe it). Anyway, I know in Phily that they sell special parking passes for tailgate lots. Do they do the same for Camden, or is there just a certain designated area that everyone goes to? I am looking to bring quite a crew this year, and would really like them to experience a Buffett tailgate in all its glory. Any info would be appreciated.

The last time I was in Camden it was all one price for the lot. There was some VIP
parking but most of the partying was in the main parking lots. I think it cost $20 a
vehicle.

I concur. Last time he was in Camden, there was not a pre-paid parking ticket like they had in Philly.

Re: Camden NJ - Tailgate Ticket question
No, nothing like that in Camden. The huge lots along the river, between the aquarium and the baseball stadium (Riversharks) are the first to fill up and usually have the best party!
I'd say those will fill up by 12:00 or 1:00 on Saturday, a little later on Thursday.
One more note, when the Rivershark have a home game, they close some of the lots to Parrotheads to save spaces for those going to the game. The Rivershark are away on Thursday but have a home game on Saturday.

Hello fellow Parrot Heads! I will be making my 1st trip to Camden to catch a show and the set up looks a little odd. I am looking for some additional advice about the tailgating- Do you just pay for parking onsite? Directions to the lots? Is there anywhere you can direct me on-line?

My only complaint about Camden is the porta-pot situation. The past 2 shows that I went to there, they had all the porta-pots at one end of the lot (towards the entrance) so if you got there early, you had one hell of a walk to pee. Which was a huge problem a few years back when it got to be about 115 degrees on the black-top; since the porta-pots were so far, people were peeing between their cars and after a while the stink was almost unbearable.talleywacker wrote:Hello fellow Parrot Heads! But other then that it is a great place; the lots open early, the police are cool and you are on the river.

Re: Camden NJ - Tailgate Ticket question
We had an 'interesting' situation two years ago in Camden.
About mid afternoon, a couple of the parking attendants accompanied by two police officers came down the row where we were parked. They first approached a large group down the row from us that had set up a grilling area, a tiki bar and chairs. We couldn't hear exactly what was going on, but it was getting nasty and at one point the cops seemed to threaten the partiers.
The gang (attendants and cops) continued down the row and eventually came to us. Because we were occupying three parking spaces with our car, tent and stuff, we had to pay three parking fees. We condensed down to two spaces and paid the extra money. (Of course, the empty spot remained empty for the rest of the day.)
Later, I wandered down some of the other rows in the same lot and asked people if they were approached and I couldn't find anyone else who was held up for additional payments.
Now, I have no problem with paying for spaces I am occupying, but if that is/was the policy, we should have been told when we arrived.
I wrote a note to the (then) Tweeter Center and got back a form letter response expressing their concern over visitors complaints, and a thank you for writing, but nothing further.
While I suspect I have may have contributed to the Police/Parking Attendant Social Fund, I've learned to take a few extra bucks with me this year.
