In the state of Victoria (adjacent to mine) ... 25 people confirmed dead from bushfires - and it is expected to rise to 40.
Worstening conditions for fires expected today in both states (Victoria and New South Wales). Temperatures exceding 110F and strong winds ...... Lots of fires burning in my state - we can smell the smoke outside.
Phin power to all the firefighters and those in the fires paths ...

I forgot to add - that I am fine .. I live quite a way from any bushland ... in suburbia .... but I will be staying indoors as much as possible because of the smoke (asthmatic) - and I have airconditioning .... Bit worried about my 94yo grandfather in this heat though - his nursing home does not have aircon and he will be too stubborn to leave ....
(((((((grandfather)))))) and ((((Jenny))))
I know when they had the fires so bad here in 1998 it was very hard to breathe..and I have no lung condition.
Take care of yourself and I hope your grandfather heeds advice to leave. Will the place he is staying provide another place with air conditioning?

People were told yestreday to either decide to stay with their house or leave .... these people must have decided to stay and then left .....
I would be out of there the minute the first warning came in .. a house is a house ... a life ... well ...
I agree. We have had a lot of freezing weather this winter, killing off the vegetation so there is a lot of dried brush etc. Florida is in it's dry period now till May so I'm wondering if we may have a lot of brushfires here in the coming months...
There is a cool change expected through some time later today .....
Today is to be hotter than yesterday ........... and it is firestorm weather for my state NSW today .........
I have friends from N ewcastle visiting - just had breakfast with them and htey are visiting their daughter now. I have the job of checking the road north to Newcastle (there is only one) as there is a major fire half way between here and Newcastle .... hoping road is not cut and they can get home.

I do believe I've been on that road...
Sure hope things start improving soon. I guess the US isn't the only home to whack job arsonists, is it?

Nope .. those people are everywhere ... I hope they get caught - they are talking now on the Tv as to if they would get trialled for manslaughter ...

Really awful that someone would start these fires. I hope things cool off and get better soon!

Queensland state above NSW - my family that live there - cannot get bread or other basic food supplies with their town being completely cut off by severe flooding ....
