What happens to all the unsold merchandise?

Post by MsOver40Pirate »

Just bought a concert shirt off of e-bay from last years tour 08 for my husband they did not have his size last year at Pineknob for this particular design. That got me to thinking
What happens to all the unsold stuff at the end of the tour? Is there a store that it all goes to or a web site that you can purchase merchandise from? Or is it just locked away in a warehouse somewhere ? Just curious, that's all. :pirate: :wench:

The first couple of shows of each year's tour usually have the some of the previous year's shirts. Sometimes for a few bucks off the regular price.

I believe at Nissan they also had shirts from the previous tour.

As late as the Chicago concerts (which were late July last year) I know there were shirts from the previous year at a small discount.

I really don’t know. Never thought of that. Maybe they are donated to third world countries. Like the World Series shirts celebrating the world champion losing team.

Interesting question. I never really thought about, bet there is a lot of stuff laying around somewhere. Would not mind getting my hands on a couple of shirts

I just finished reading Jimmy's 'A Pirate looks at fifty' and apparently Jimmy takes t-shirts and CDs with him on trips around the world and uses them to bribe customs, security, etc... All through the book on various islands, he would hand out stuff to airport employees, cab drivers, tour guides, etc... as either a reward or a bribe. I'm guessing that's where a lot of old tour merchandise ends up. Just imagine a whole bunch of islanders wearing 90s Jimmy Buffett tour t-shirts with no idea who he really is. Lol.

When I went to Las Vegas last October they had beach towels from the previous tour being sold at a pretty good discount. I bought a couple of them.

My understanding is that they are humanely destroyed.

Maybe Margaritaville, Inc. could donate them like the NFL does with the Super Bowl losers' t-shirts and caps: http://www.cnbc.com/id/28949443

Rumors are that these items are eventually donated to Margaritaville-licensed retirement communities as bingo prizes........ :o  :pirate:

Hey, if JB can have Margaritaville tequila, beer, rum, footwear, frozen food, why not tap into that "final" Parrothead demographic business?????

Sounds like another possible comic strip for "BN Critters".......... :D
