I am so sorry for your loss and feel your pain, honestly.

I also lost my little Punky (Repunzel) powder puff Chinese Crested. She'd been my soul-mate through some terribly trying times.

Although I'd not had her nearly as long as some of my other dogs I've had, I still, at times, mourn her loss.

You are so furtunate to have had Scamp in your life. So sorry for your loss Sally.

I am so, so sorry....I adore my puppies and I can't begin to imagine how much that hurts....you're in my thoughts!

I know exactly what you mean by just wanting your baby back. It is so hard to accept when they are just starting out in life and have potential for years of joy taken away in an instant. My heart goes out to you and hubby and the kids.

At the same time, citcat, I feel for you and the loss of your longtime companion.

Well it didn't take me long........4 days after losing Scamp, I found myself roaming the aisles of the local Humane Society. The hole left in our home with Scamp gone was just huge and unbearable. Really I was "just looking". Well I found Sandy, a three year old sweet Chihuahua. She's a larger one, actually looks like a fox, probably a mix. She's very calm and gentle, except when giving our cats a good chase. She has helped heal our hearts a little.....she's not my Scamp, but she's really trying to work her way into my heart and my kids took to her immediately.

Love you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. It really helped. Gotta go....having a hard time focusing through the tears......

I just saw this post - so sorry to hear about Scamp....

Happy you found Sandy and given another dog a warm and loving home -- it's a great way to honor Scamp's memory. Scamp will always have a special place in your heart and with time Sandy will earn her little piece too.

I'm truly, truly sorry to hear that, Salukulady.

I lost my dog, Cricket, last year and it almost killed me. It will always hurt a little, but soon, all you'll remember are the good times and how much Scamp loved you.

God has a special place in Heaven for dogs and I hope it comforts you a little to know that Scamp is healthy and happy and watching over you.

I'm just reading this for the first time, and knowing the pain and emptiness this has brought you is truly heartbreaking.
If your dogs bring you 1/10 the happiness and joy mine bring to me, I can definately understand the devastation you feel when they depart for the rainbow bridge.

At the same time, I'm feeling happiness and a sense of peace that you've rescued Sandy, and know that your finding her was Scamp sending you a message.
I know the same thing happened to me a month after I lost Merlin and found Sheba.

Cherish your memories of Scamp, as short as your time with him was, and I know you know that the love you'll give to Sandy will be reciprocated to you a trillion times over.

Sally - I'm sorry to hear about Scamp. Losing ones dog is truly a heartbreaking experience; my wife and I had to put our down in December. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Shadow but, as time goes by, the pain will lessen.

What really pains me deeply is that she was only a year and a half old. She became such a huge part of my life so quickly. Past pets that I've had for years didn't hurt like this one when I had to put them down, they were old, in pain and it was their time. The facts, she was still a puppy, I let her run into the street, I had to make the terrible decision to put her down and she laid there licking my face and wagging her tail telling me it was okay, while they injected her with poison just kills me. I still feel so guilty....and I miss her so bad. Sandy is slowly working her way into my heart and that helps, and I know with time Scamp will be a fond memory instead of that horrible night she died.

I can only imagine the pain suffered by those of you who have lost a child......mine was just a dog.
