Animal in Wall

OK, so I was home Thursday afternoon, and heard noises in my den's outside wall. Later that evening, I started having cable trouble. Animal sounds have continued during the day, and the cable guy discovered a chewed cable line in the wall.

Got to get pest control folks in to get this taken care of.

Anyone else had this--how much of a problem is this to get taken care of-I have no clue where the animal (mouse most likely) is getting into the wall.

If you live in the cold, cold north, it could also be a squirrel. We've had lots of problems with squirrels in the roof (not like bats in the belfrey, but close). Good luck. Wish I had answers that didn't include exterminators and big bucks. :wench:

ru roh..... squirrels can be very BAD.....esp. if inside the house. They have some genetic communication that makes generations remember to "come on in to my house". We had a problem a few years back - they came through attic vent and made nests in the fiberglass insulation and chewed the wood support thingies and some wires or three....one poor guy got zapped. Good luck....

yeah, and your tag line about the raccoons--they can be very unwanted guests too. I just keep trying to remember, we've taken over a lot of wildlives (is that a word???) territory. Try to co-exist, but please leave my attic insulation alone. hehehe.

I did have a squirrel in the attic several years ago, but the screen around the attic fan has taken care of that. The good thing is that this problem is less than a week old. Noise ends around 5 PM (cocktail hour, you know). Cable guy thinks it is a mouse.

Perhaps s/he (the mouse) will bring cheese (and their raccoon friends will bring the wine??)

We had rats get into our wall here and chew through the dishwasher drain hose. What a mess!
We tracked them down and got them out ourselves, one each. I found mine in the laundry room
on the dryer and knocked it into a trashcan that I slapped something on top of, I forget what.
Our son found one in our screened in patio and shot it with a paintball gun! What excitement!

But this is what I really wanted to tell about... when I was a kid, a possum crawled up the pipes
that went under our house from the tub, and you could hear it's tail thumping on the inside walls
of the bath tub. Now that was weird. Thank goodness I didn't have to bathe in there much.

Just don't let PETA know you're trying to get rid of (*gasp*) an animal. They'll boycott your house and throw fake blood on all your stuff when you're not home to tell them to STFU.

Also, chipmunks. I live in the south and the worst I've had was a scorpion in my bed once but I know of some friends up north that had chipmunks in the wall...

Red squirrels in ours! In fact I heard something above my head....near the spot I caught the last one - therefore I must set the trap again!

The first one was caught by pest controll....I caught the second one.... drove it to the big city park - 11 miles to be exact! Across one river and 3 bridges...if the little b@stard finds its way back... I will kill it with my bare hands! They say if you set it free, have to take it nearly 10 miles away or it will find its way back.

Our house is nearing 100 and we do not want those kind of issues!

Good luck! I will let you know if I catch anything! ;o)

I laugh at the comments...I actually react when I see a squirrel, like a dog does....I find it comical!

We got back from a 5 day trip to the Stars Fell on Alabama event last night
to find a stray cat crying in our attic! We're still trying to lure it out.

Yeah, a lot like that, except this cat is gray and we have the cover from an eave vent
pulled off outside for it to escape... if it only will! Our cat is not too happy about coming
home from being boarded at a kennel for 5 days, getting her annual shots, and now having
to put up with this! [smilie=nolikey.gif]
