To rant? Or not to Rant?
I noticed there was a lot of activity in the "Stimulus" thread here. And on other forums I've been seeing the same discussions which are always off topic from the forum.
I was ticked and scare after the election and got a domain name. Then during the transition it looked like Obama would govern like Clinton (he stole half his people) which wouldn't be nearly as scary as Pelosi and Reid running the country into the ground.
Well that was apparently a head fake. And after seeing the stimulus, the budget, the Omnibus spending package, and the oncoming inflation that's sure to follow, I'm reconsidering. Help me decide if we need a forum to play watchdog and/or rant about what's going on in DC.
Please hit http://WeToldYaSo.com/ and take the poll. Thus far I've been using it as a testing grounds for some web tech, but the crazier it gets in DC, the more I consider launching a dedicated forum. The main page would be a consolidation of some on-topic news feeds. (one example in there now)
Thanks!

Re: To rant? Or not to Rant?
If I'm not mistaken, there are already many internet forums where folks can go and rant about politics to the exclusion of everything else. Most of them appear to be based on a core ideology (Right politics for example) where those friendly to the founding ideology can rant to their heart's content and those unfriendly to the founding ideology are baited, flamed and ultimately banned. I think you would be putting another baguette into an already full bread basket.

Rant away. Just make your thread titles self-explanatory so those not interested can skip the thread if they choose.

And was the last time THAT happened? people see a title they disagree with and they immediately think everybody wants to know about what they think.blackjack wrote:Rant away. Just make your thread titles self-explanatory so those not interested can skip the thread if they choose.

Thought this was a poll. I would have voted "not to rant".

Re: To rant? Or not to Rant?
You're probably right. But that's what I don't like about the political forums I've seen. They're single-minded ideological love fests, which is exactly what I think the problem with DC at the moment.flyboy55 wrote:where those friendly to the founding ideology can rant to their heart's content and those unfriendly to the founding ideology are baited, flamed and ultimately banned. Do you really think, given the way this board broke down last fall, that you are going see anything different on your board/site?Down2TheC wrote:You're probably right. And, oh yeah. I used the term "Super Bowl" without permission from the NFL. Let them come sue me.

I wouldn't mind putting all the extreme ideologues from both sides into a room with a pile of bricks and then locking the door.

Half of them would throw them at each other, and the other half would use them to build a wall. None would think to use them to build a place to sit and talk.TropicalTroubador wrote:Amen.flyboy55 wrote:If I'm not mistaken, there are already many internet forums where folks can go and rant about politics to the exclusion of everything else.
