So many great Texas songs and wonderful thoughts to read here. Thank, Cate, for keeping a great thread going.

Here is a fun song by Brian Burns and you can listen to sample here or watch the video:
http://www.brianburnsmusic.com/es_song_10.htm

I've Been Everywhere (In Texas)
Geoff Mack (Texas Version Adapted By Brian Burns)

I was totin’ my pack along the dusty Amarillo road
when along came a semi with a high and canvas covered load.
“If you’re goin’ to Amarillo, Mack, with me you can ride,”
and so I climbed up in the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I’d seen a road with so much dust and sand,
and I said, “listen, bud, I’ve traveled every road in this here land...”

CHORUS:
I’ve been everywhere, man,
I’ve been everywhere, man,
I’ve crossed the deserts bare, man,
breathed the mountain air, man,
of travel I’ve had my share, man,
I’ve been everywhere.

I’ve been to Waco, Hico, Hondo, Navasota,
Winnsboro, Jacksboro, Hillsboro, Santa Rosa,
Austin, Houston, Galveston, Texarkana,
Frisco, Buffalo, Conroe, Corsicana,
Goliad, Groesbeck, Glen Rose, Red Oak,
Post Oak, Live Oak, Lone Oak, no joke...

REPEAT CHORUS

I’ve been to Krugerville, Pflugerville, Van Horn, Val Verde,
Brackettville, Bartonville, Beeville, Bulverde,
Bear Creek, Cedar Creek, Mill Creek, Mineola,
Maypearl, Monahans, Telephone, Tuscola,
Redwater, Round Rock, Round Top, Round Lake,
Sour Lake, Southlake, Springlake, for Pete’s sake...

REPEAT CHORUS

I’ve been to Greenville, Gatesville, Gainesville, Alameda,
Kerrville, Kellyville, Bastrop, Benavides,
Somerville, Smithville, Stephenville, Prairie View,
Luckenbach, Longview, Plainview, Idalou,
Justin, Junction, Panorama, Pasadena,
Angelina, and Lorena...see what I mean-a...

REPEAT CHORUS

I’ve been to Valley Mills, Pine Mills, Dime Box, Duncanville,
New Home, New Hope, New Deal, Liberty Hill,
Rockport, Rock Creek, Bridgeport, Brownwood,
Cleburne, Comanche, Cut & Shoot, Cottonwood,
Bayview, Bayside, Baytown, Bay City,
Falls City, Center City, Bridge City, what a pity...

REPEAT CHORUS

When it comes to travelin’ Texas, friend,
I’ve been everywhere.

Love Brian Burns and miss all the Texas musicians coming to Victoria since Steve Coffman and TEXASMIX passed, but so thankful for the chance.

yes, God Blessed TEXAS!

Artist: Green Pat
Song: Songs About Texas

I sing songs about Texas,
I sing them often as if she were some old lover, I used to know,
wish I could follow them back to the homeland every time I hear one on my radio.

Twin fiddles playing in my memory,
my daddy sang the wonders of old cow towns,
silver haired and he's still there under a sky so warm and fair,
I tell you friends there's a song in every town.

So sing me one more song about old San Antone,
it seems like a dream now it was so long ago,
and Jerry Jeff Walker can be just like a cold front on the coast
well I'm going home.

Well it's nothing short of the gospel hymns,
I guess that's why folks keep writing 'em
when I die, I want to go there too,
some day I hope to walk along heaven's street,
and I'll still be looking for my taco meat
and I swear I hear a steel guitar rising in the air.

So sing me one more song about old San Antone,
it seems like a dream now it was so long ago,
and old Guy Clark he can be just ike a cold front on the coast
well I'm going home.

When the night is real real still, swear I could hear a whippoorwill,
she knows there's music in the dirt down there,
hill country rain is a cleansing thing
and all I have to see one,
sitting in a shallow creek got nothing to do.

So sing me one more song about old San Antone,
it seems like a dream now it was so long ago,
and Jerry Jeff Walker can be just like a cold front on the coast
well I'm going home.

So sing me one more song about those dusty plains,
them honky tonk angels, and their lonely beehive pain,
wish I was stowed away on some fast moving train
going home,
yeah I'm going home.

Todd, I never get tired of watching that Songs About Texas video. I met the writer, Walt Wilkins, in January and he's back making Texas his home. I think he wrote that song back in the 70s.

Nice that so many Texas artists joined in on the song on George's Bar.
Chris Wall is the singer at 0:50. Cory Morrow is at 1:50. It's always fun to listen for those special Texas songs like Hill Country Rain and Like A Coat from the Cold.

In this video Pat Green joins Walt and his friends at the Granada in Dallas. I love this version too. It's done so soulfully!

I got the feeling
Something I can't explain
It's like dancing nakes
In that high hill country rain

Sometimes I just wake up hummin'
Feelin' like the world is right
Want to jump right up and run outside
And take in the morning light
And feel the music running through me
makes me want to dance
Clap my hands and dance

Sometimes it just takes my lady
To smile and make my day complete
when she's touching me
I feel free and easy to be me
Lucky to be alive
Feelin' alright
Take a walk outside
Feeling alright

People they tell me now,
You're living too fast
Slow down now Jacky boy
Take it easy let some of life pass
But I don't know no other way
Got to live it day to day
But if I die before my time
When I leave I'm leaving nothing behind
I'm tasting every grape on the vine

*Cause I got a feeling
Something that I can't explain
It's like dancing naked
In that high hill country rain

I ain't worried now 'bout tomorrow "no"
I'll get by best I can
Lovin' is my will to live
It makes me laugh
Want to sing and dance
Clap my hands, yeah!

I got a feeling
Something I can't explain
It's like dancing naked
In that high Hill Country rain

The Granada is up NE of downtown, old theatre in the art district?

I've never been to the Granada as it is way out of my territory, but I have heard all kinds of good things about it lately.

Just could make it there one day tho with all the good acts on the schedule...Billy Bob's is way out of my territory too, but made it there several times...as well as the White Elephant Saloon.

I know ETP always talks about the places on Greenville AVE...just east of Highland Park.
