STARS OVER TEXAS - Tracy Lawrence
I wonder if they were yellow stars?
I have at least 30 of those songs.
Larry I think you know a lot more about Texas music than I do

but then you are an Honorary Texan....
If I did not have to cook for the in-laws tonight I would go to Georges and have a beer in honor of today

I think I'll have a Shiner Bock...or two this evening.
We may join you, mah darlin'!

YeeHaw!!!

Texas
George Strait
There wouldn't be no Alamo
No Cowboys in the Super Bowl
No "Lonesome Dove", No "Yellow Rose"
If it wasn't for Texas.
I wouldn't be a Willie fan
Nobody would swim the Rio Grand
I wouldn't be an American
If it wasn't for Texas.
CHORUS
Fort Worth would never cross my mind
There'd be no Austin city limit sign
No Lone Star of any kind,
If it wasn't for Texas.
I'd never gone to Tennessee
to sing my songs and chase my dreams,
Only heaven knows just where I'd be
If it wasn't for Texas.
Fort Worth would never cross my mind
There'd be no Austin City limit sign
No Lone Star of any kind
If it wasn't for Texas.
It made me the man I am,
Thank God for my old stomping ground.
I wouldn't be standing right here right now
If it wasn't for Texas,
If it wasn't for Texas,
If it wasn't for Texas.

Yep!
What I Like About Texas - JJW
You ask me what I like about Texas
I tell you it's the wide open spaces!
It's everything between the Sabine and the Rio Grande.
It's the Llano Estacado,
It's the Brazos and the Colorado;
Spirit of the people down here who share this land!
It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand
It's a quarter for the jukebox boys
Play the Sons of the Mother Lovin' Bunkhouse Band
You ask me what I like about Texas
It's the big timber round Nacadoches
It's driving El Camino Real into San Antone
It's the Riverwalk in Mi Tierra
Dancing to the Cotton-eyed Joe
It's stories of the Menger Hotel and the Alamo!
It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand!
It's a quarter for the jukebox boys
Play The Son's of the Mother Lovin' Bunkhouse Band
Hey, you ask me what I like about Texas
It's Blue Bonnets and indian paint brushes
Swimming in the sacred waters of Barton Springs
It's body surfing the Freo
It's Saturday night in Del Rio!
Driving across the border for some cultural exchange!
It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand!
It's a quarter for the jukebox boys
Plays The Son's of the Mother Lovin' Bunkhouse Band
It's another burrito, with a cold Lone Star in my hand!
It's a quarter to four, the jukebox boy
Play The Son's of the Mother Lovin' Bunkhouse Band
You ask me what I like about Texas
Spoken:
I could tell you...but it would take all night long..

"Texas, Our Texas"
Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
(chorus)
Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.
(chorus)
Texas, dear Texas! from tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.
Chorus
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.

London Homesick Blues
Gary P Nunn
1st verse
Well, when you're down on your luck,
and you ain't got a buck,
in London you're a goner.
Even London Bridge has fallen down,
and moved to Arizona,
now I know why.
And I'll substantiate the rumor that the English sense of humor
is drier than than the Texas sand.
You can put up your dukes, and you can bet your boots
that I'm leavin' just as fast as I can.
Chorus
I wanna go home with the arma [Am] dillo
Good country music from Ama rillo and Abi lene
The friendliest people and the prettiest women you've ever [G]
seen.
2nd Verse
Well, it's cold over here, and I swear
I wish they'd turn the heat on.
And where in the world is that English girl
I promised I would meet on the third floor.
And of the whole damn lot, the only friend I've got
is a smoke and a cheap guitar.
My mind keeps roamin', my heart keeps longin'
to be home in a Texas bar.
Chorus
3rd Verse
Well, I decided that I'd get my cowboy hat
and go down to Marble Arch Station.
'Cause when a Texan fancies, he'll take his chances.
Chances will be taken, that's for sure.
And them Limey eyes, they were eyein' the prize
that some people call manly footwear.
And they said you're from down South,
and when you open your mouth,
you always seem to put your foot there.
Repeat chorus 'til the cows come home
Oh, I love that song: If I'd known it was Texas Day, I would have worn my brand new KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD t-shirt. It would have been the right date!

My dad's favorite from so long ago . . . San Antonio Rose . . .
Deep within my heart lies a melody,
A song of old San Antone.
Where in dreams I live with a memory,
Beneath the stars, all alone.
Well it was there I found, beside the Alamo,
Enchantments strange as the blue up above.
For that moonlit pass, that only he would know,
Still hears my broken song of love.
Moon in all your splendor, known only to my heart,
Call back my rose, rose of San Antone.
Lips so sweet and tender, like petals falling apart,
Speak once again of my love, my own.
Broken song, empty words I know,
Still live in my heart all alone.
For that moonlit pass by the Alamo,
And rose, my rose of San Antone.
Broken song, empty words I know,
Still live in my heart all alone.
For that moonlit pass by the Alamo.
And rose, my rose of San Antone.
And rose, my rose of San Antone.
And rose, my rose of San Antone.

On this day of rememberance, hoist your Shiner (or Dr Pepper)and face toward Washington-on-the-Brazos,
then give a toast. (something like "To Texas Independence" or "Long Live the Republic of Texas")
Also, be sure to remember that next Tuesday, March 6th, commemorates the Battle of Alamo,
and say a special prayer for all the brave souls that fought and died in the heroic stand of that great Mission in San Antonio.
Honor the Texas Flag.
I pledge allegiance to thee: Texas, one and indivisible.

my favorite TX song.....by King George...doesnt actually say "TX" but a city in TX
Artist:George Strait
Song: Amarillo By Morning
Amarillo By Mornin'
Up from San Antone
Everything that I got
Is just what I've got on.
When that sun is high in that Texas sky,
I'll be buckin' at the county fair.
Amarillo By Mornin'
Amarillo I'll be there.
They took my saddle in Houston,
Broke my leg in Santa Fe.
Lost my wife and a girlfriend,
Somewhere along the way.
I'll be lookin' for eight
When they pull that gate
And I hope that judge ain't blind.
Amarillo By Mornin'
Amarillo's on my mind.
Amarillo By Mornin'
Up from San Antone
Everything that I got
Is just what I've got on.
I ain't got a dime,
But what I got is mine.
I ain't rich, but Lord I'm free.
Amarillo By Mornin'
Amarillo's Where I'll Be.
Amarillo By Mornin'
Amarillo's Where I'll Be.

We has a sales meeting out at The Woodlands last year and they had Shiners on ice... all you could drink

Based on my reading posts on BN, I thought I'd hit the Mother Load.... others thought I was just an easily amused Californian who did not understand Texas beer
