They originally put the recordings up and disabled the music player feature that allows you to right-click-copy the song, but that doesn't stop anyone from recording the streaming playback if they know how to do so.
Hmm, I wonder if anyone here may have done that? Anyone? anyone? Bueler?
I'd sure only listen to it myself and not try to give it to Jimmy (not cause I don't respect what the recording is, rather that I have little chance of every being able to hand anything to Jimmy).
I'll keep y'all posted because we have a concert of Steve Goodman's from 12/'72, again from My Friend Dave and again from Bubba's. We might pull a song out of that gig and post it as well at phlockers gone wild dot net in the near future.

Has this concert made it up anywhere? Haven't seen it around.

Hilarious. Wish I could have seen Steve live. Never had the chance. Both he and Prine were big influences on Jimmy's music and he has covered a few of their songs.
Which Prine song did he cover? I'd like to see him cover "Quit Hollerin' at Me" or "Big Ol' Goofy World".

I had the pleasure of seeing Steve and John together at the Opera House in Seattle years ago. It was after his last album "Artistic Hair" came out. I believe it may have been the last concert Steve did before he passed away. I had a 2nd row seat and it was probably one of the best shows I ever had the privilege to see.

He covered "Big Ol' Goofy World" twice (Atlanta and Chicago) and "Paradise" once (Cinci). He played these as his solo acoustic encore songs during last year's tour. He did a great job on all accounts! I thought one of the versions of "Big Ol' Goofy World" was better than John Prine's version. It was awesome!

I want to thank you for bringing a smile to may face with the "Big Ole Goofy World" links. I like it when Jimmy steps out and adds the acoustic, personal touches. As for those who never saw or heard Steve Goodman, a hidden treasure would be to check out some of his old album covers. There's one in particular that has him, his wife, his baby and a couple of long haired friends on the cover, one with only the credit as "Marvin Gardens". I bought it years ago for the cover alone. It's JB and Johnnie Prine just goofin' as well. As for Steve himself, I did some bodyguarding and 'confidence' stuff for a guy back in the late 70's. Steve Martin went on tour and in '78 as a birthday present I got my first time job standing in the middle of the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa (college home field later of Kurt Warner) guarding----a suitcase. I thought I'd been pranked big time. But damn if an hour later a bus pulled in with Steve Martin on board and all the props---arrow through the head, white suit to boot---were in that suitcase. Why they hadn't traveled together was never explained. And I was assigned to assist his opening act. First assignment---find this "new" concoction that was the national rage, this "diet" soda for him. The man was Steve Goodman, I ran to every pop machine I could find and there was not one yet to be found. I sat in the locker room with him, talked with him a little but mostly listened as he warmed up, asking about "the Dome". I was just out of college and a Buffett fan but pretty much alone as my first two Buffett concerts were cancelled due to (now get this)--lack of interest. Yup. I've said before, more people thought I was talking about Jamie Brockett (known for the cult classic "Ballad of the USS Titanic") than knew who Jimmy Buffett was. And even I had not realized at the time the close connection between Buffett and Goodman or I would have been extremely interested in anything Goodman had to say about the man who'd created my new favorite music, "Shrimpboat Rock" (the Parrothead thing was years away and "Gulf and Western", Jimmy's first attempted description of his music was a "No-No, No-Go" due to big oil companies claims of copyright infringement). No, I missed the boat that night, but Steve was a great guy and I knew he'd been suffering from leukemia but not enough to know that he had not beaten it for good. Took his life some years later. ANd who woulda thought of him opening for Steve Martin?! Genuinely nice, and very talented guy though. God bless Steve Goodman and that smile.
Great story. Thank you so much for sharing...and typing all of that.
Did Steve Martin play his banjo?
Tried and I tried but I don't understand
Never seems to work out the way I had it planned
Hanging out at a marina when Steve Martin called
Singin' anybody there really want to get small
