Good call, that actually makes more sense, because even though he HAS been upside down in a plane the rest of it didn't "go" Good call.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I actually hear that as "Upside down, water in the brain".... As in, tossed off the board, upside down, water driven into your nose and ears. "Into the bottom" being how a surfer gets slammed to the bottom by the wave. I distinctly remember this particular lyric because at the Shell show it made me laugh. In person, I definitely heard "brain". (And I was close enough that I thought it looked like he said "brain" rather than "plane"...}gingerbreadman wrote:Hey, that's cool too!ScarletB wrote:I know..... I have issues.
We were thinking that the part about...
That's all she wrote
Upside down, water in the plane
Into the bottom, but feelin' no pain
Surely, that had something to do with Jimmy crashing his seaplane upon takeoff in 1994. But, dang! I can only find references to that incident over that other-world place!
But Lord knows, I've been wrong before!
Thanks, GBM and conched! This is great!!gingerbreadman wrote:Wow! What a song!
Here is my best guess for the lyrics. Special thanks to conched for helping to fill in the gaps.
I Feel like Goin' Surfin' In A Hurricane
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like makin' love in the pouring rain
I ain't afraid of dyin'
I got no need to explain
I feel like goin' surfing in a hurricane
We left the bar last night about half past eight
Down on the Alabama shore, not the Aloha state
This storm may pass, it was too late
And we ain't the kind to evacuate
The impact zone is callin' out my name
Sea monster night pulling nothing but pride and fear
St Christopher might not get our asses outta here
Flooded roads, trailer parks
Maybe a tornado workin' in the dark
The perfect night to ride into eternity
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like makin' love in the pouring rain
I ain't afraid of dyin'
I wasn't going to explain
I feel like goin' surfing in a hurricane
The waves were hard, the seas were high
Wicked thunderbolts flashed in my eyes
We swam out to the sandbar in the dark
Howling at the moon, cussin' at the sharks
I made the first drop and my cojones were in my throat
The second wave launched me like a rocket
That's all she wrote
Upside down, water in the brain
Into the bottom, but feelin' no pain
Screamin like a Seaman, paddlin' out again
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like makin' love in the pouring rain
I ain't afraid of dyin'
I got no need to explain
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like makin' love in the pouring rain
I ain't afraid of dyin'
I got no need to explain
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
I feel like goin' surfin' in a hurricane
Whether you like the new songs or not, one thing that is encouraging, it seems like Jimmy may be having more original songs that he wrote on his next album. With Fell Like Surfing, Lot to Drink About, and even the clip of Summerzcool we heard, it seems like he's three for three on new original songs. I think I remember that Weather With You had only like 3 or 4 new songs written by Jimmy.ScarletB wrote:I have to agree that when I heard the opening I was hopeful, but as Tag will tell you I'm a lyrics persongingerbreadman wrote:I really do like Feel Like Surfin, first, because it ROCKS! Not that often do you see 3 electric guitars onstage, being played by Peter, Mac and Jimmy, and all at the same time. Course, maybe if Sonny Landreth was there, then you might see 4 electric guitars.![]()
But I like Feel Like Surfin and A Lot to Drink About because they are funny, at least to me, and it makes me laugh. The laughing is what makes me come back for more!
Not sure of the longevity of those songs tho... Hopefully A Lot to Drink About will become dated soon.and the lyrics just didn't do anything for me. My biggest problem with "Drink about" is that almost the whole thing is spoken.
I know..... I have issues.

I hope so! I'm still waiting on RM to announce when they are going to air it.conched wrote:OK, so the only lyrics I helped with was plane and got that wrong...![]()

Or were there a couple other little things?
I guess I just thought of him referring to bubbles up!
When we hear the song again, it'll probably be the recording from Waikiki!
I recall there was a whole bunch of other little things... Including, but not limited to the correct spelling of asses and cojones!conched wrote:OK, so the only lyrics I helped with was plane and got that wrong...![]()

Sounds like he's drinking and surfing in Gulf Shores, Alabama.....?

I can't argue your point that its good he's doing some original stuff, but it makes me feel bad when I really just don't like themI WANT to like them, I really do!
