I'm glad to see that JB and the CRB are doing new stuff, but, it sounds like that song could have been written in all of about 15 minutes.

I do, however, really like the Summerzcool video. More of that, please!

gingerbreadman wrote:I really do like Feel Like Surfin, first, because it ROCKS! Not that often do you see 3 electric guitars onstage, being played by Peter, Mac and Jimmy, and all at the same time. Course, maybe if Sonny Landreth was there, then you might see 4 electric guitars. :o

But I like Feel Like Surfin and A Lot to Drink About because they are funny, at least to me, and it makes me laugh. The laughing is what makes me come back for more!

Not sure of the longevity of those songs tho... Hopefully A Lot to Drink About will become dated soon. :)
I have to agree that when I heard the opening I was hopeful, but as Tag will tell you I'm a lyrics person :P and the lyrics just didn't do anything for me. My biggest problem with "Drink about" is that almost the whole thing is spoken.
I know..... I have issues.
Whether you like the new songs or not, one thing that is encouraging, it seems like Jimmy may be having more original songs that he wrote on his next album. With Fell Like Surfing, Lot to Drink About, and even the clip of Summerzcool we heard, it seems like he's three for three on new original songs. I think I remember that Weather With You had only like 3 or 4 new songs written by Jimmy.

I can't argue your point that its good he's doing some original stuff, but it makes me feel bad when I really just don't like them :( I WANT to like them, I really do!

Maybe you need to see them performed in person. They both ROCKED live. The crowd loves "A Lot to Drink About" and the band was jamming to "Surfin."
"A Lot to Drink About" gets better ever time I see it.
I have to agree about the seeing it live. It was great song live and the whole band was into it and having a great time. Hopefully it will show up at Cincy and Indy this year also. I can't wait for the concert to replay this weekend. Thanks for posting the video and lyrics.

First of all, I like the song. Probably because of the guitar playing in it. Nice to see Pete and Mac doing a little ripping on the old axes.......but.......... am I the only one who thinks this has a very definate Tom Petty sound to it?
Runnin Down A Dream ??????

Sorry I didn't feel it sounded ANYTHING like "Running Down a Dream"....It did sound a little bit like something he'd written before but I cannot put my finger on it right now...

I dunno.....I could be wrong but, the short bit of the intro I heard reminded me a little of the intro to Runnin Down A Dream. The rest of the song kind of reminds me of a mixture of Petty and Dick Dale. All in all I like it. I think it's much better than the other 2 new ones.

I loved Feel Like Surfin...the guitars rocked. I hope he keeps it in the set list. Not all songs have to have deep lyrics....sometimes they just have to be fun, or cool....and this was both.
See ya in Tampa!!!
