May Las Vegas concert questions
Hey everyone, I just found out I'm being sent to Vegas for a conference May 17-21 so I'm hoping to see Jimmy at the MGM Grand. I have a few questions for anyone who's seen him there.
1. Ticketmaster still has decent tickets for 210+, which is crazy. Should I go ahead and get them through TM, try a broker or perhaps try a scalper outside the venue? I wasn't sure if the fact that he hasn't sold out yet might mean there are some cheaper tickets to be had.
2. Do they have any festivities at the hotel or the Margaritaville cafe that we might want to attend before the show? We're staying at Mandalay Bay so we'll be fairly close to both with the trams.
3. At the MGM Grand, are there such a thing as bad seats? Are there certain areas I should avoid getting seats at?
I've already got tickets for Cincy and Indy, but there lawn seats, this will be the first time we've seen Jimmy at an arena.
TIA!!!

Re: May Las Vegas concert questions
Lucky. I go to Vegas every year in October but here are my thought on your questions.
1. I would get tickets ahead of time, either through TM or eBay or check the Ticket exchange here on BN. My experience is that there are not many people selling tickets outside the event. Not the typical scalping venue.
2. There should be an all day street party at the Margaritaville Cafe the day of the concert usually starting about noon. Definitely check that out and check with the MGM if they have anything going on at their pool. They used to do a big pool party on Saturday afternoon but haven't the past couple years (at least for the October shows).
3. The Grand Garden Arena is a nice, smaller venue and I haven't been in a bad seat. Haven't been on the floor so I can't speak to those but I have had a great experience even in the cheapest seats they offer.
Have a great time and let me know if you have any other questions.

For the money you're willing to spend on tix, you might want to consider waiting until you get to MGM, and buy your tix from the box office in the lobby. sometimes they have better seats than TM might have. also considering the money you're going to spend, you want to get as close to the stage as possible. Check the seating chart on TM or even MGM's web site. good luck.

Re: May Las Vegas concert questions
I went to my first JB concert in LV last year, 10/25/08. It was the best show I have been to yet. We had so much fun at the Margaritaville street party. Our seats were in upper section, row 1 (bought on eBay-great price) off to the left of the stage, the side Jimmy seems to play to more. I usually have a hard time seeing wherever I sit but not this time. The seats were great!!! The indoor arena was the perfect temp and the sound was awesome. We stayed at the MGM so it was about 10 mins from the lobby via monorail to Margaritaville. It does not get much better than this

You are going to have such a great time!!! We will be there next year.

Re: May Las Vegas concert questions
With the exception of this past October, I haven't missed a Las Vegas show and I've had seats scattered all over the arena. My favorite seats have been on the risers, just 1 section from stage. My least favorites were on the floor in the back. It's hard to see anything so you miss out on the show. The upside is that you are part of the party on the floor. I would get my seats ahead of time, while it's true that the box office sometimes has better seats, sometimes they don't have any. I would be leery of buying tickets from most scalpers as a great many are selling bogus tickets or so I was told by a member of the LVPD that I ran into a couple of years ago. Also, I would make a point of going to Margaritaville the night before and starting the celebration then and return the next day for the street party.

Re: May Las Vegas concert questions
I bought tickets out there for the 2nd show out there last Odt. I was offered 2nd row seat at the street party. I didnt want to pay 200 for 3 people if I was alone I would have. I think the MGM is a good venue. I am going in May and again for the 2nd show later this coming Oct.
