Allright, Vegas Parrot Heads- if no one else is gonna start this thread I will.
Come on- you can be proud of being a Second Weekender!!!
We've been doing the Vegas drill for 10 years now (the second weekend since 2004) ---and Weekend 2 Rules.
Here's one of several You Tube snipets I put together from last year's Oct.25 Street Party to help jar those fragile memories of the great times you all had. This one's of Tommy Rocker & band.
I know you're out there... or could those 18,000 people I hung out with last year just be figments of my imagination?
Phins up Second Weekenders- get on board!

Allright, Karen!
I knew you were out there.
Slowly but surely, Second Weekenders will start to clamber aboard this Leaky Tiki on it's slow cruise to Vegas.
(It was getting a little lonely back there on Page 2! )
Vegas & You- at Weekend 2!

Aloha, nik1821!
Welcome to the Jimmy in Vegas Experience!
There truly isn't anything like it- First OR Second Weekend. We've seen Bubba in many other venues, but Vegas is a world apart. It's just Ya-hoo! "Fun, Fun, Fun...'til her Daddy took the T-Bird away!" Heck, if I could I'd just camp out at the Flamingo and do BOTH weekends... but Hmmm, I didn't a get stimulus package so my wife says one is the limit this year. Bummer.
As we get closer other crew members will jump on- but historically this thread tends to be less active than the the First Weekend-- mainly due to the fact that The Last Man Standing Party (put on by the awesome Las Vegas Parrot Head Club) takes place on the Friday night before the concert of the First Weekend.
I've been to several of these- and they are great- BUT the Second Weekend's Friday experience is evolving into a contender as well. Last year Nadirah Shakoor had a great CD release party ( "A Nod to the Storyteller" )at Margaritaville on Friday night. She had a killer band- joined by the likes of Tina Gullickson, Mac MacAnnally, and others. They basically put on a mini concert & kicked off a wonderful weekend.
The next day starts off with the Margaritaville Street Party...see the video in the opening post...from 11AM- 6PM and then if you wish, MGM has a function as well 3-7PM...that used to be in the old Theme Park (now them was the days), then moved to the Pool( that was kinda cool) , and now...I think it's it some back parking lot. By that time of the day..who cares. The suggestion from this old Vegas vet...stick with the Street Party for as long a possible.
Well that's enough info for now, I'm sure. Whatever the Weekend- you've come to the right venue!
Oh, and here's another YouTube snipet from The Infamous Street Party from yours truly.
PHINS Up!

Vegas is definitely the place to see Jimmy.... will be my third time (in the last 3 years...)
However unfortunately I can only go to one show so I'm going to be a "first weekender" this time...
My hope is maybe next year I can go to both shows but it really has to do more with my schedule at work and family plans than anything else....

You are getting me pretty excited about this concert!
I went to Vegas for the first time ever last summer and the waiter at Margaritaville was telling me the big party that Buffett brings when he's in town and I had to experience it.
Do you know when the Vegas shows usually go on sale?

Well last year they went on sale on April 28th for both Vegas shows. (Prices were $69-$211)
My guess for this year....Monday, April 27th...or thereabouts.
Jimmy's been pretty considerate this year about getting those sale dates out there. I think he realizes with the economy the way it is people are counting their pennies and need to plan way in advance in order to figure out if they can even spend them.

Some of you may want to try and make this show as well.....plus, it means 30,000 additional tourists coming to town that weekend. If you don't have a hotel booked yet, do it now before rates start to climb. Do it through the hotel (not travelocity, expedia, etc) and you'll be able to cancel and rebook elsewhere if a better deal does happen to come up in the months to follow.

Hey Deano!
Thanks for the U2 info!
Book your rooms now folks 'cause Vegas will be jumpin' that weekend!
For those new to this thread- Dean Siu (Mr. Southern Illinois University..Saluki Power & all that) IS Information Central when it comes to Vegas...so I hope he checks in with us folks here at Week 2 every now and then with his famous tidbits --and of course, those incredibly hard to watch avatar clips- ouch!.
Oh, and by the way Deano my youngest son goes to Creighton...and need I say more?? Kicked some Saluki booty this year, huh? Maybe next year!
PHins UP, my friend!

Room rates have gone up a bit at the Flamingo since we booked a couple months ago...
Present rates: Fri-$175, Sat-$175, Sun- $95.
Obviously the U2 announcement (along with Jimmy in town) has spiked their rates. This always happens and it's all speculative. That's the price their hoping to charge you come check-in time. Almost every time we've gone- when we've checked the rates a couple weeks out they've usually come down quite a bit. Last year it was $100 less off the total booked rate- but you've got to challenge them on it before you check in.
Now you can find places cheaper- The Imperial, Circus Circus, Casino Royale (God forbid) but...can I be honest here- if you can afford it- do the Flamingo. It's Ground Zero for most Parrot Head Action...Margaritaville, the Street Party, it has a great pool and ambiance, etc. And it's a quick monorail ride to the MGM Grand- super easy! We've stayed in various hotels along the Strip- upper & lower end- and The Flamingo for some reason hits it just right for the event. But then that's just me...

Well Well, that time off year again is it. Still winter up here in Canada.
We are thinkin about Vegas again this year and it would be this weekend for sure.
Can't wait for October. Booked flights this week and got a cheap deal. Decided to stay from the 15th October until the 25th October to see both shows and booked accommodation at the Desert Rose where we stayed a few days last October as well as The Mirage. We preferred it to The Mirage. It has no Casino to walk through and you get a free breakfast. Looking forward to meeting everyone again.
Something tells me Vegas ticket sale dates will be announced very soon. I'm still guessing they'll be announced for sale on April 27- we'll see.
As we wait and anticipate and sip our imaginary Havanas & Bananas..and Bahama Mamas...and such...here's yet another "let's re-live it" video of Jimmy in Vegas. This one is Margaritaville...Friday Nite.

So I just finally watched your videos as I sit here in my cube on an incredibly slow day at work and I really need to get to this concert! Looks like so much fun!
Wifey-poo and I have our reservations in at the Flamingo.....got in cheap a couple of months ago....those that haven't commited yet, keep watching....the prices jump all over the place...and don't worry...if they get cheaper, just rebook it....
Looking forward to seein' everybody again!
