Eddie Money article referring to Jimmy Buffett
I came across this article while looking at Eddie Money's website, here is what he says:
"It's really quite the big party," Money says of his concerts. "It's sort of like a Jimmy Buffett show, although I never got the Jimmy Buffett thing myself. ... Buffett fans, they drink a lot of beer and throw on these shirts, and they think they're in the band."

Re: Eddie Money artice referring to Jimmy Buffett
Eddie's just jealous that there are no "Moneyheads".
"EdHeads"?
"EdHeads"?

Re: Eddie Money artice referring to Jimmy Buffett
The difference is Buffett still continues to be relevant, coming out with new music and filling stadiums while Eddie is a nostalgia act, without a new song on the charts since the 80's.
I like his music, but to criticize Jimmy the way he did in his interview reeks of sour grapes.

I don't really like Eddie Money's songs... I think I know maybe 1 or 2 but I've heard people in Karaoke do them better (maybe it's the voice....)
That said being a Jimmy Buffett fan entails MORE than beer and shirts...

Eddie is talented, to be sure, but methinks he doesn't "get it." ![cheeky-grin [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]](./images/smilies/cheeky-grin.gif)

Re: Eddie Money article referring to Jimmy Buffett
Eddie is comparing apples to mangos. I could understand him saying anything if the guy released something new. Now he's a, as some one put it, nostalgia act who opens up for bigger shows. I saw him a few years back at Jones Beach, he was the opening act for Styx and REO Speedwagon. He was the guy who had no stage setup and was playing when it was still light and people were just finding there seats. He's just trying desperately to hold on to a fan base.

Re: Eddie Money article referring to Jimmy Buffett
Oh, Don't get down on Eddie...
He's being honset and straight forward. It's not a gripe at all.
He freely admits he doesn't get it. It's not a complaint, he just doesn't understand the mentality.
It's the same way with the Grateful Dead. You either get it, or you don't.
Buffett gets The Grateful Dead, but a lot of his fans don't. No knock against those fans, they just don't understand the Grateful Dead. It's not something that interests them.
It's the same with Eddie and Buffett. It's not his thing, but that's okay.

I just find it kinda funny that Eddie Money lumps himself in the same category as Jimmy. Jimmy can sell out huge venues in minutes, the best Eddie can do is be an opening act for some who can sell out a huge venue in minutes...hey there's an idea, Eddie should open for Jimmy, maybe then he will get it!!

Re: Eddie Money article referring to Jimmy Buffett
LOL, LOL, LOL! There was a time when i really loved Eddie Money's music. Then I saw him in concert about 15 years ago. It was an unplugged show. I left that concert royally p*** because Eddie was late getting on stage. The concert was supposed to start at 08:00 p.m., but it started at 08:15 which is not unusual, but then the concert was an hour long.
There definitely is no comparing Jimmy Buffett shows and Eddie Money shows. A Buffett show is an experience all its own. You either get it or you don't, and me thinks that Mr. Money does not get it. A bit of sour grapes there!

Re: Eddie Money article referring to Jimmy Buffett
I saw him open for Motley Crue, who in turn opened for Def Leppard at the Sky Show in '83 in San Diego. He did wear a Charger Power t-shirt which made him less of an out of place dork.
