Just imagine how many people would this help

Post by dazed228 »

Just sitting here in buffalo thinking about last weekends party the western new york phc had and the money we raised charity, her is my thought. What if JB had a contest for all the ph clubs nation wide to see who could raise the most money for charity over 12 months. The winning club gets a private show.Just think of the money this would raise but second to that would JB agree?????????

I doubt he would agree. He probably thinks he contributes enough to charity already, and I think he actually does contribute a good bit. BUt I wish he would do a contest like that!

He would probably say he doesn't need to bless a nationwide charity drive and if you're doing it do get a show your hearts in the wrong place. And he's just too busy with business ventures and travel. (Reverse psych)

I'm thinking that if something like that were to happen you'd have clubs that bust their butts for one year only just to get a private show, and the remaining years not be so active in community service.

a) free? when he could make money off it? no.
b) imagine the nightmare of trying to make this work. There are several clubs who have memberships in the 500+ range. Most have memberships under 100. automatically you've written off most of the PHCs if you go on a straight money raised criteria. So then you have to get into rules for measuring relative size of donations, and frankly, organizing this would be like 1) herding cats, 2) cause a lot of bad feelings between the members of the various clubs.

But it IS a neat concept. :D

Unfortunately, the realities of enacting it mess it up.

You also get into "Which club raised the money?"- take the PH Cruise. They make a lot of money for breast cancer research every year- would all of that fall under the Atlanta club, or the 65 different clubs that were represented?

Great concept, but a pain in the ass to pull off. I can't picture Jimmy promoting a contest of this nature. He is not extremely involved with the PHC aspect. Plus, as someone else said, if Jimmy were to do a contest of this nature people would be busting their butts for a chairty for the wrong reasons, and hearts would not be in the right place.

My guess is that we don't know even half of what Jimmy contributes to charity, nor should we know. If JB were to list every charity he contributes to I would certainly question his motives and have less respect for him.

If the end result is money being raised for charity, how then could a person's heart be in the wrong place?

My aplogies. I misinterpreted. Sounded kinda like the end result was a show by Jimmy.

Bingo. That is actually biblical. Giving should be done secretly.

Well, if you are donating to a charity knowing that the end result will be to help others that is wonderful. If you are busting your butt to donate to a charity knowing the prise could possibly be a private concert from Jimmy that is where priorities of the heart get a little messed up. If a contest like this were to happen my big concern would be that clubs would bust their butts for charity, and if only one club wins, and so many clubs will lose, there could easily be people within an otherwise awesome club who would never bust their butts again for charity, because they did not win the ultimate prise. In the long run that could hurt a club, because the participation from members with bruised egos would no longer be there.
