Re: LANDSHARK LAGER
Now, mind you, I haven't been on a cruize ship in over two decades, but...
To date I've only seen Landshark in bottles.
The rule of the waves had always been "Anything on a boat(or ship) must be a can"
I doubt that's changed. Bare feet and broken glass don't mix well....
Regarding the price: Landshark was first made in Anheuser Busch's Jacksonville facility and it is one of their products. I believe they are now making it in one or two of their other breweries.
Landshark was made with the specific purpose of competing with Corona. Now, as to why Corona, a beer made in Mexico, yet costs the same as a world class beer such, as Spaten from Munich, is beyond me. Spaten uses the finest German two row barley, Hallertau hops and alpine spring water. Corona uses some kind of cheap-ass Mexican barley, diluted with rice, corn, and who knows what else. As for the water, well, have you heard of Montezuma’s revenge? To cap it off, it's from freakin' Mexico? Buy a VW Rabbit made in Mexico for $20K and buy the same car in Germany for $32K. In all sincerity, Carona should cost somewhere in the range of $2.50 a six pack, if that.
However, like P.T. Barnum always said "There's a sucker born every minute".
Corona does have, without doubt, the finest advertisements of any product on the planet! They truly are fantastic. Because of this, they get $7.99 or $8.99 a six.
Landshark costs no more to produce than Busch Light, but because they’re competing with Carona, it’s priced in tune with Carona.
Now, as Ccrona should cost about $2.50 a six pack, with them making a very fair profit. Where is the extra $6.79 going? Someone’s getting very fat on this gig.
Landshark is the same way. Just the pockets the extra $$$ goes to is… different

It's in kegs now, too, so I guess a cruise ship could have it on tap.chrisrehm wrote:Now, mind you, I haven't been on a cruize ship in over two decades, but...

I still prefer Corona over Landshark. I will drink a Landshark if offered for free. I am glad that Buffett is successful with the Margaritaville brand but I am not going to stop drinking Coca Cola for let's say Coconut Telegraph Cola.

Agreed. If I'm in a Margaritaville, though, the Lone Palm Ale is my preference.margaritamyers wrote:I still prefer Corona over Landshark. I will drink a Landshark if offered for free. "Go with the flow" works, too. When I visited Anguilla, Sam Adams was something like $7. Carib and Red Stripe were $3. Simple math, local wins.

I went to the New York Auto Show last year and looked at the sticker price on a Ferrari. Didn't mean I was thinking of buying it.Migration Michelle wrote:Then why were you looking at the price of it in the store?LIPH wrote:I'll only drink Landshark if somebody else pays for it.

Re: LANDSHARK LAGER
I tried it when it came out. Shared the six pack with a friend.
Never again.
And, yeah, the last thing I'd be thinking about is what kind of beer a cruise is going to have, yet alone hope they have a certain kind. That's just screwed up.
I'm waiting for the Margaritaville toilet paper dispenser, toothbrush, broom, refrigerator, lawn mower, shovel, cat food...instead of tequila and shoes and shrimp...

Re: LANDSHARK LAGER
I will say it is a matter of taste and that it is drinkable. For the price though you can get alot more beer for your money. If your looking for something light on a hot day to take the place of I dont know, maybe a glass of water, then landshark would serve this purpose well.Bfan53again wrote:I agree Jen.....Landshark is a decent summer time beer (especially after mowing the lawn!)SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Landshark is drinkable. I like the taste but find it somewhat watery. There are a lot of other beers I like better. And I won't pay a premium price for Landshark. At $8.99/six pack, I'm drinking Sam Adams (Irish Red being my current favorite).![]()
I just tried Sam Adams Irish Red ale for the first time last week. Now there is an excellent brew!!!!!!

Re: LANDSHARK LAGER
OK all I got one for you since spring and summer are coming....
Next time you have a Landshark (or Corona) (especially if you are one of the many who aren't sold on it), open the bottle, take small swig, pour in one shot of decent tequila (not great but not Cuervo-I prefer Sauza Hornitos or Don Julio Silver), add slice of lime, thumb it, flip it, then try it again. I have served this to many friends who don't like LS or Corona and to friends who don't like tequila. 9 out of 10 come back for a second or third...not usually a fourth but you get my drift. If you do try it please let me know your thoughts...also I am trying to think of a name for this concoction any thoughts?
Phins Up.

Or a loaded Corona. That's nothing new. But if I have to add something to beer to make it taste good, I'd rather have a different beer.

Re: LANDSHARK LAGER
My husband tried a shot of tequila in a Miller Chil to see if that would make it taste a little better. Didn't help. Now that stuff is swill. It's one beverage I won't drink even if it is free. Never did like Corona; don't care much for Landshark, either, but at least they're drinkable.

I like it to. I'm not the beer critic that some of you must be,but I like the way it tastes with a lime.
Hope this doesnt make me uncool...actually I don't care.

Booze isn't priced for what it costs. It's priced for what it can get. Grey Goose is as expensive as it is not because it was more expensive to make than Absolut or won more awards than Absolut or anything like that. When Grey Goose was introduced, Absolut was the dominant vodka, and so the marketing genius behind Grey Goose figured if he made it more expensive than Absolut, people would think it was better than Absolut and buy it. He was right.chrisrehm wrote: Landshark was made with the specific purpose of competing with Corona. I'm sure the only major difference between how they make Bud and Bud Light and how they make Landshark is one extra step: when they write the royalty check to JB. That alone makes it more expensive to make.
