My problem with this is when you take a masterpiece and redo it, it better be damn good.

If this is not top notch, and as great as the show was, it will be insulting.

I hope it’s good. I would love to see it if it’s smoking funny like the original.

SOMEBODY (HELL, *EVERYBODY*) IN HOLLYWOOD MUST BE HIGH!!!

Has anybody else gotten as fed up with sequels and remakes as I have??? I can't remember a sequel (outside of Godfather II and Superman II) that was better, or even the equal of, the original.

And as for remakes? All I need to say is "Flight of the Phoenix". End of discussion.

I don't know, I actually kinda like the new Batman movies over the original set of movies.

Not to hijack, but I have a pet peeve .... I ignore posts and don't click on embedded links when the only clue to what the link's subject matter is about is a generic subject line like "This is too wrong!!!".

Or maybe it's just me.

What is thread about?

"The Three Stooges," a comedy project the filmmakers have been developing for years. Sean Penn is set to play Larry, and Jim Carrey is in negotiations to play Curly. Benicio del Toro is a rumored possibility for the brothers' taciturn leader, Moe.
The film is not a biopic but a fictional treatment that maintains the Stooges' gleeful slap schtick updated for a modern milieu.

Jim Carrey seems like a good fit to be Curly

The fact that Sean Penn would even do this means, to me, there must be something halfway decent written.
Both he and Benicio Del Toro aren't exactly scraping by right now 8)

Is there really a market for this? The real three stooges weren't funny 50 years ago. Actors playing the three stooges won't be funny either.

my thought is.. too may things "happen"
Three Stooges..
Home Alone
American Grafitti
Star Wars
Rocky Horror
on and on
they were put out for entertainment and they became
Cult status..
IMHO there is no way to plan for that kind of longetivy
it Happens to try and recapture it is just a waste of time

I think you nailed it, There isnt a good way of recapturing something like this. Also, it wouldn't be the same in that the countries sense of humor hs changed since. This movie is probably going to be a mistake for this studio.

I'm having problems picturing Sean Penn as Larry. A mentally challenged father trying to regain custody for his child - no problem. A gay politician - no problem. BUT LARRY???

The only one of the three that would seem plausible is Jim Carey and thats only because he's the same type of comic that Curley was.

Honestly I can't even see Jim Carey - probably because I really can't stand him.

The way I see it is some things aren't to be messed with. I grew up watching them and they really sparked my imagination. I can't see any of the chosen actors/comedians sparking imagination but then I'm nowhere near a kid's age either.
