Shook hands with Brooks Robinson yesterday
I was at a trade show, and someone paid for Brooks Robinson, Boog Powell and Paul Blair to sit and sign autographs.
Brooks could not have been any nicer. He extended his hand before and after the autograph, and did not rush things at all.
With all due respect to cal Ripken, some folks here in Baltimore will always consider brooks to be "Mr Oriole".
I was 13 when Brooks retired, so I could not fully appreciate him, but I certainly do remember seeing him play and fondly remember going to "Thanks Brooks day"

Great story.
I've never met the guy, but I've heard and read similar stories of what a gentleman he is.
When he played his first M.L. game, I was 3 years old.
By the time he played his final game, I was a second class petty officer in the U.S. Navy and had did a tour of duty in Vietnam.
What a guy, what a ballplayer.

Very cool story.
I never got his autograph, or shook his hand, but I watched him play ball in the 70s.
He is really a great Oriole.

Brooksie was one of the best major league third basemen ever. So glad I had the pleasure of watching him play for many years in Baltimore. He was literally a one-man highlight film in the '66 World Series against the Dodgers.......
And he remains a wonderful and gracious human being......
Thanks for sharing your story!
