A couple of years ago I was offered tickets for cincy from someone who had very few posts. I wasn't 100% comfortable so I did just what sprucketts suggested and asked him a real basic personal question--how many Buffett shows had he been to? Never heard back from him, and so I never mailed him the money. Sad to say not long after that he did manage to burn someone else from here with his scam.

Personally, I wouldn't, not yet anyway. That show is a long way off yet, and I'd be shocked if more tickets didn't drop between now and the show.

You might even end up with better seats.

Turn it around. You have plenty of posts here and we know who you are, make them mail the tickets first. Someone has to take the first cautious step, why not make it them?

I wouldn't sell tickets to someone who doesn't know how to spell "maybe". "Smaybe"? WTF

I copy that from Mutts Comics. A Dog and a Cat. They say "Yesh" instead of yes. They say "smaybe" instead of maybe. Get the picture. http://www.muttscomics.com/default.aspx Or You don't understand.

The cat in the Comic can't say certain words. I have a tattoo with both of them.

i would be as cautious as buying tickets from someone on the street unless it is someone who will be at the tailgate and the exchange will be in person that would make me more optimistic that the transaction was legitimate

Hey-o no!!!

from out of town to boot??
Use a middle man/escrow agent such as StubHub or PayPal... or prepare for the possibility of losing your money :-?

..and regarding FinsUpinIdaho's idea, which sounds good...but
a lot of people got hurt by a longtime poster here last year with lanyards, ...so nothin's perfect

I agree. I wouldn't jump yet at if-fy tickets. See what drops in Ticketmaster.

Proceed with extreme caution, and use your gut instincts. If you have an ounce of misgivings about buying these tickets, don't do it. There is still plenty of time before the Chicago shows. TicketMaster could easily release tickets between now and then, so keep checking TicketMaster before you take your chances on a seller that you are unsure about.

Also, be careful with brokers especially if you get tickets that are printouts. We went to the First Chicago show last summer, and we purchased our tickets from a broker. We were able to get to our seats just fine, but a few minutes into the show a woman came over to us and showed us one of her tickets that she purchased from a broker. It was a printout that was identical to our printout tickets. She had the same seat that one of my friends had, and she really worked hard at trying to push my friend out of her seat. We finally told her that since the venue was kind enough to let her in despite the fact that her ticket did not make it through the scanner she needed to just leave us alone and find an empty seat somewhere as there were plenty of empty seats around us. She finally left, and she was determined to get her money back. Unfortunately, she probably will never see that money again.
