Yeah, Trace was good but I have no use for most of them.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Hmmmm, well, I have to admit... With the exception of Trace Adkins and the West Point Glee Club's fantastic tribute to the Wounded Warrior Project, George Strait, and a couple of other songs, it didn't hold my interest.... I guess I like "old" country a whole lot more than "new" country....
I soooooo agree, Terry. And I"m not sure what's worse...listening to her sing or listening to her talk.East Texas Parrothead wrote:She's too over the top for me. Affected, I think, is the word. I just don't like her.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I don't particularly like her song selections (probably because I'm not 15) but I like her voice.East Texas Parrothead wrote:I don't "get" Miley Cyrus. At all. Not one little bit.
That's because "new" country is what Top 40 used to be. If you want to try to make it as a singer, at least for a couple of years, call yourself a "country" singer, especially for women. Most of them all sound the same to me.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Hmmmm, well, I have to admit... I just hope he doesn't come out with Honkytonk Badonkadon part 2 right after this like he did with Arlington.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:George is country. And Brad, And Trace Adkins (although I don't like everything he does. Two words: Honkytonk Badonkadonk). And Willy. And even Kenny, although I know so many don't like him. Tracy Lawrence. Travis Tritt. Randy Travis. Reba McEntire. Dolly. Tim McGraw. Toby Keith (although some if his leaks over to top 40 imho). Brooks & Dunn. And then there's the old country. George Jones, Waylon, etc etc etc. *sigh*
Oh, and I REALLY liked John Rich's Shuttin' Detroit Down!

Back at the start of freshman year of college, my roomie introduced me Ronnie Milsap's music. We recently got in touch again via FB and both of us still listen to those same old songs. Brings back a lot of memories for us. Of course when she played Merle's "Let's Chase Each Other Round The Room Tonight" I thought I was gonna bust a gut laughing.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Yup, exactly.Brown Eyed Girl wrote:That's because "new" country is what Top 40 used to be. She has great hair. Seems like a nice kid too, even if I don't care for her music.East Texas Parrothead wrote:She sure is a cute girl ... and she seems to be so happy to be there ...
