Acadia Nat'l Park....Maine.....etc.

Okay, I know this isn't necessarily a "Change your Lattitude" kind of hotspot, but considering a trip to Acadia and the coast of Maine...maybe even north to the Bay of Fundy.
Anyone out there have any first-hand info that could convince me that there is something to do other than watch the ocean slam into the rocky shoreline?

The scuba diving and kayaking are awesome, and last time up I saw a lot of people biking. There is also a ferry (Cat) that goes between Maine and Nova Scotia.

Camden, sunset sails on huge old wooden sailboats, good food, good shopping.
If you're into old restored cars and airplanes - Owls Head transportation Museum. They also have small air shows several times a summer. AND Brunswick Maine has a great airshow in July I believe. Usually the Blue Angels and a great variety of the best aerobatic pilots from around the country. Also there's always the LL Bean store in Freeport, open 24/7.

It has been a long time, but we were in Maine for a wedding and visited the park. We mostly
walked/climbed around on the big rocks there. It was a lot of fun and we got good pictures.
After the wedding event, we boarded the Fast Cat from Bar Harbor and then drove around the
southern part of Nova Scotia for a few days. It's very scenic and peaceful there. We drove the
north shore of the Bay of Fundy one afternoon and learned a lot about how to accommodate
large fishing boats when the water disappears. We toured Halifax one afternoon, and really
enjoyed our visit to The Ovens, which was a private park on the Atlantic shore with huge
caves ("ovens") carved out by the sea. It's still owned by the (Harry) Chapin family. If you
plan it right you could get in on the big music event:
Special Musical Events
This will be the 23rd Annual Concert by the Sea.
Tom Chapin and his family have put on what has
become one of Nova Scotia's favourite programs:

In other words, we "did" Nova Scotia instead of a lot of Acadia. But we really enjoyed it.
If you're interested at all, PM me and I can tell you more of the sites we visited.

The Cat that goes up to Nova Scotia during the summer is the same one that used to run between Ft Lauderdale and the Bahamas during the winter months.

A number of years ago, we took a trip up the Maine coast. Scoped out all of the lighthouses... stayed in a different place every night. It was awesome. We also tied in some NH attractions -- Mt Washington was great. We only stayed in BH a day and a half, so we shortchanged ourselves there.
Boothbay harbor was a wicked cool town (see, I remember the lingo) a little south of bar harbor.
IIRC, Bay of Fundy is still well north of of bar harbor.
Now this was in 92ish, but I remember adding up our expenses -- gas, rooms (some nice, some not so nice) great food and we spent just under $1000
