Hello,
I will be traveling to San Diego for the first time and was hoping to get some suggestions on some great local pubs and food. Looking forward to trying some great Califonia mexican food. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated, thank you.

For Mexican food, my favorite place is Las Olas in Cardiff-by-the-Sea.
All fresh and pretty light...it doesn't sit like a rock in your stomach when you're done...
It's right across the street from the beach. Enjoy happy hour and cross the street for the sunset.

The best pizza in the San Diego area is at Pizza Port in Solana Beach or Carlsbad. They brew their own beer and have several on tap along with other favorites. It's just a few blocks below Las Olas...

The best cheeseburgers are served at a small dive bar in Pacific Beach called Rocky's Crown Pub.

...no trip to San Diego would be complete with a visit to these places...
If you go, let me know what you think...

I have always prefered Hodad's burgers. Also a trip to SD should include a stop at one of the 1000's of small mexican "taco" stands. A San Diego treat.

Can't remember the name but there is a little bar across the street from the Hyatt and Marriott where they filmed part of Top Gun. I can't speak to the food but if you like the movie it will bring back old times.
We ate at a place in the Gaslamp called Mr. Tiki's Mai Tai Lounge. Good food, good drinks and a cool atmosphere.
Get over to Coronado Island as well. Check out the hotel and the beach and even if it's cloudy wear lots of sunscreen. We all gor fried on our day at Coronado because we were idiots and didn't continue putting sunscreen on all day because the sun never came out.
