I can just see Whitey and Tug and Vuke waiting for him and welcoming him.

Thanks, Harry. You were the best.
I can't say it any better....I grew up with the Phillies on the radio every nite, first with By Saam and Richie Ashburn and soon to follow with Harry and Richie....I am just so saddened by this....Harry was so lost when Whitey passed on and now for this to happen at the ballpark.....if there really is a field of dreams...Harry, Tugger, Whitey and Vuke are all sitting together now and havin' a drink.

Sail on Harry

I like the story that Larry Anderson told last night.

L.A. was a player, not an announcer and really didn't know what he was doing and so Harry took him under his wing and mentored him.

But L.A. was awful. Harry would coach him and because Harry could never bring himself to say anything bad about another person, he'd say, "L.A., that was so good, I'd like to hear it again. And you know what would really be great? If you said..."

Through family connections, I've gotten to meet most of the Phillies from the late 70's to the early 90's. Sadly, I never did get to meet Harry.

I know plenty of people who have, and to a man, they've all said that he was one of the friendliest people in the ballpark.

Certainly the classiest.

Just what makes that little old ant think he can move that rubber tree plant...

In 1993, I drove to Toronto with friends for game 6 (and hopefully game 7) of the World Series between the Phillies and the Blue Jays. On our way to the game, it was a clear night so we tried to listen to the Phillies broadcast from Philadelphia. We actually got a signal and it was great to hear Harry's voice on such a big night.

Scott and LA said yesterday in the beginning of the Phillies game that he passed away in a place he loved, the baseball broadcast booth, and he never had to retire. He went out on top!

Sail On Harry.

My step son asked me why I was so upset. I told him that I had never listened to a non Network Phillies game that he didn't do. The first game I remember watching was the first game at the Vet. Harrys first game as Phillies annoucer. It's very sad for me.

I always took a radio to the games with me just to listen to harry's call. Even though it's been about a 15 second delay since the Janet Jackson Flashing. Even though he was slowing down, on opening day he called a line drive to the pitcher a "broken bat one hopper to first" Ya hadda love him !!

This pic I if I sent it right) is from 1984 with my then 5 year old keet Matt, just turned 30 on Tuesday & taking him & his new bride to the Tampa for their first show, if they make it after the tailgate !!

Anyone heading to the memorial tomorrow AM.?
