I have never heard the song played this way before.
I know what I think of it. You decide for yourself.
( I hope you like it as much as I do!)
I love her voice. Unfortunately she is no longer with us.

I saw one of the Susan Boyle clips (the woman wiscoleeds linked to) earlier today. WOW!!!
As for the other clip and her rendition of "Over the Rainbow".....she's got a nice voice. But whyinthehell can't people sing a song the way it was written?????
I mean, she changed the timing; she changed the notes; and for all I could tell she even changed a couple of words. What's left??

You mean like Jimmy Buffett does?
Each artist is allowed the freedom of their own interpretation. I have heard songs revised from a slow to a fast pace and vice versa.
Such as
Total Eclipse of the Heart for one.
Depending on the artist and the song, sometimes I prefer the revision of the song. Sometimes not.
I really like her revision and I love her voice. It is a great loss that
she was taken away so soon and so young.

Spider,
Thanks for posting this. Eva Cassidy is one of my favorites...and it's sad that she only became known after dying of breast cancer. Listen to her other stuff as well....she is amazing.
BB- many artists take pride into being able to change song a bit and make it their own. It's artistic liberty...I don't think anyone would disagree that Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" is just as beautiful...
