Because newer fans might not know some of the more obscure songs, and they want to hear him play some of the songs that they are familiar with.
In my opinion, that's a bogus reason for not playing the old stuff. I've been to concerts (other performers, not Buffett), where I don't think I knew 5 of the songs they played and I still had a great time. If the music is good it shouldn't keep you from enjoying the show.

I didnt say that he shouldnt pay the old stuff, believe me, I get excited as well when I hear a new song live that I have never heard before. But, there are some in the crowd who may have just gotten into Buffett, and hope to hear some of the songs they know. These could be songs from SYKBH, they could be from other live recordings off the internet, of whatever. But many people hope to hear a few songs they are familiar with, although at the same time I agree it is great to be exposed to new songs as well.
On another note, when Jimmy plays a concert, such and Paris or Anguilla, in those cases I would agree to stick to mostly old stuff, as most people there are long time fans, and would be thrilled to hear some stuff they havent heard before, as opposed to Cheesebuger for the 800th time.
