mole removal

Post by ragtopW »

OK... SO...
I "found" a mole. it was covered up by the Ponytail. :-?
I have found it twice with the razor, while shaving (sliced both times)
so I am thinking either I
start waxing my head. OR
see just how easy Nair is to use OR
see a Dermatologist to have the Mole removed..
My question is... can I go right in to a Dermatologist?
or do I have to see a GP first??

Nair doesn't work - had a b/f that tried it with AWFUL results. If you do waxing just imagine all that hair being JERKED out at once (although what pain you feel will be gone quick) Your needing a referral all depends on your health plan.

Depends on your insurance, whether or not they require a referral from a primary care physician

It depends on your health insurance...mine allows for self referral...you'll need to check yours to see if it's the same.

WAIT I've thought about this. I'm quitting smoking and need things to do. I'll wax you!!! I think jerking the hair out of someone's head might be therapeutic.

wayne they will take it off, especially if you keep nicking it.

once you get to the dermatologist - it depends on your insurance if they take it off right there or have to schedule a "surgery" appointment.

they will automatically send it off for biopsy just to make sure it is ok.

My GP did 2 for me, right in his office.....One in 1998, and one 6 yrs ago....One was on my back right where my bra rubbed it and needed to come off for years, but I was scared.

Went in, he numbed it, cut it out with a scalpel, cauterized it, stuck a Garfield bandaid on it..(I was in the children's room ),sent it to the lab......2nd one was on my R shoulder, and looked a bit off...His PA did it, and again, it was easy...Cost me $15 co pay for the visit, each time...

Piece of cake. Took about 2 minutes and didn't feel a thing....

I had a couple that I wanted taken off. I asked my GP for a referral this morning, he said he could do it himself, and it was taken care of during my normal physical appt.

Definitely, if it is an area that gets irritated, have it removed and have a biopsy done--35 years ago, I had 3 removed from my face.

Definitely not nair. No way.

I had 2 removed from my face last year.
One of them was smack in the middle of my forehead and if you scratched it off you could possibly win a free Bic Mac.
Took just a few minutes and it was painless.
