Well, if JB can't land(shark) the Super Bowl gig this year I don't think he'll ever be the chosen one!

Jimmy Buffett discussion

If this is true then Jimmy should look into politics. It seems that he has pay to play down.f2cdlzrd wrote:Someone told me at our PHC meeting last night the NFL had already announced Jimmy would be performing at halftime but I cannot confirm anywhere.
Can't imagine the NFL would "announce" anyone as the halftime entertainment at this point in time. The powers that be may already know what they're gonna do but I'm sure they want the "hype-machine" to fire up much closer to gameday.f2cdlzrd wrote:Someone told me at our PHC meeting last night the NFL had already announced Jimmy would be performing at halftime but I cannot confirm anywhere.
But imagine the limited edition CD/DVD that could be released.LIPH wrote:Buffett at the Super Bowl. Just what we need, new versions of Margaritaville, Cheeseburger In Paradise and Fins. I'll pass.

re: promotion idea
We need to move quickly on our idea for a promotional contest for the Super Bowl XLIV that will award the winner two (2) tickets as your guests to the game in the Landshark Lager executive skybox at Landshark Stadium. Have your people contact my people and we'll hash out the final details. We'd like to get this promotional idea on all applicable websites before the Summerzcool Tour re-commences next week.
Important: We need to know whether or not you'll be working during the Super Bowl, or will you be able to chill with the rest of us in the skysuite?
Thoroughly enjoyed today's press conference (by the way today is Friday). We'll be talking to you again soon.

alternatively, I'd like to also recommend a contest that will award the same two (2) guest tickets to the Miami Dolphins opening Monday night game September 21st, 2009 vs. the Indianapolis Colts. We'll be tailgating in the north parking lot that day. I believe it's your turn to bring the beer.
p.p.s.
Catch you in October in the OBX. I have a new longboard I'll be trying out.

I have to agree with Larry on this one. While I have no problem with Jimmy buying into the Dolphins , or putting Landsharks name on the stadium, or any other business venture he sees fit to invest in - the whole press conference/performance thing embarrassed me for some reason. As I said on another thread, I guess I've reached a new level of fandom. Changing the words to Fins was just a bit too cheesy for my taste. And the new version of "Here we Are" didn't do much for me either. That was "our" song, but I guess now there's a new group to make money off of.LIPH wrote:Buffett at the Super Bowl. I wasn't too put off by any of it yesterday. Kind of mildly uncomfortable. But if they start playing "Here We Are", Dolphins version, on the big screen before games, I will blow a gasket.......ScarletB wrote:I have to agree with Larry on this one. Just for the record I'm a hig fan of football, and I'm still a JB fan but this was really crass commercializing and not at all pleasant to watch.
I couldn't agree more. Jimmy is free to do what he wants and to endorse what he wants. But at some point - the endless uses of his name to make more money tarnishes his image to some of us.ScarletB wrote:I have to agree with Larry on this one.
