Sail On Wayman Tisdale

God is great, Beer is good and People are crazy

You aren't old when your hair turns grey,
You aren't old when it falls away,
But if your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill,
Then you know that you're over the hill

Re: Sail On Wayman Tisdale

I was fortunate to have seen him at Ruth Eckerd Hall many times over the last few years...what a talent, what a story behind the man and his successes, struggles with cancer, amputation, getting back on stage to play bass again...
Damb...

Wayman was truly one of Oklahoma's greatest athletes, and a damned fine musician, too. And that smile!
Truly a sad day in the Sooner state.

during b'ball season, very few Sundays went by without Tisdale dominating the Sport Section of the Tulsa Daily World.bestseller92 wrote:Wayman was truly one of Oklahoma's greatest athletes, and a damned fine musician, too. And that smile!

Our high schools were rivals and our colleges were bitter rivals. With that said, I can only think of good things to say about him.

Re: Sail On Wayman Tisdale
Wayman Tisdale was the man most responsible for bringing OU basketball back to the forefront nationally back in the mid 80s. He was a great ambassador for his sport, for his music, and for our state. We will miss him greatly. The world was a better place with Wayman Tisdale in it.

Re: Sail On Wayman Tisdale
From Dave Koz's website:
"This is a tough one for anyone who knew Wayman — to know him was indeed to love him. No one made people feel good like Wayman Tisdale... that smile, that spirit about him — that sense of determination and focus. He had this way of making everyone feel special. He was huge in every way and took the biggest bites out of life. I feel so fortunate to have gotten to spend so many wonderful times with him, to share the stage, to laugh, to record together, just to hang out — but even if you didn’t know him, there was so much love in what he offered the world that you couldn’t help but love him back. And I can’t recall anyone fighting cancer the way he fought it — he was a hero on the court, on the stage, in his fight to live and in everything he did. I send my sincerest, heartfelt prayers of comfort to his wife Regina, the four wonderful Tisdale kids, his family, friends and the millions of fans who adored him." - Dave Koz.
I remember watching Wayman at 6'9" and Dave at about 5"4" playing on stage together, standing back-to-back jammin'...funniest thing I'd seen in a long time.

Re: Sail On Wayman Tisdale
I always hated him when he played for the Kings since he made it that much harder for the Jazz to win. He was a real competitor and a great musician. Sail on Wayman, sail on!
