I'm making records
My fans they can't wait
They write me letters
Tell me I'm great

So I got me an office
Gold records on the wall
Just leave a message
Maybe I'll call...
We'll party just like Bubba does,
We'll do the Old Man proud!

How can someone watching the video call the tour dates "rumors"? That sure looked like an official announcement to me.

So.... guess we'll keep waiting for that explanation.
Actually the west coast dates aren't on the google earth plug-in any more. You see them if you downloaded the old version but now they're gone.

See...that just makes it worse. It's like revisionist history. All of a sudden there's a claim that it never really happened in the first place. Clearly there's energy going into to mopping up the mess. It just seems like it would be easier to deal with it head on.

Well, I don't pretend to be computer literate, but I checked the website last night before I posted. Unless I was viewing a saved file, which I did not think that I was, the dates were still on the video.

:D :D :D

But the bigger point to me wasn't actually that the website wasn't current, it was this: how much more of an official announcement do we need? Hopefully, if Jimmy takes the time to make a video & link it to google earth, those were officially announced concert dates. And if they are officially announced, they can be officially "unannounced" . Just pretending those dates never existed **poof*** , now you see them, now you don't, is just kinda bizarre.

Very confusing, but it will probably be addressed on Jimmy's interviews this week.
If not, then he's taking *poof*ing to a new level. :o

I'm expecting something to be said about the canceled concerts tonight on Radio Margaritaville before his Live Concert. I'll be listening with Parrothead Ears.. [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

If the fall dates had to cancelled. so be it. Just wish the notice would have come sooner to change plans to allow people to go to the west coast shows now. By the time it was changed, i had no time to alter plans.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. If there was anyplace to explain it, it would have been Saturday at the Vegas venue, but there was an eerie silence on the subject.

There's been a lot more talk and grumbling about it since then, so just maybe? However, I won't hold my breath for anything when it comes to an announcement being made. I just think it would be the right thing to do now. I'm sure he's aware of the unhappiness about the cancellations by now.

Yeah, these situations are no-wins. Whatever the reason for cutting the tour short is going to be criticized. If it's due to lack of sales, someone will complain that he should play out of loyalty no matter how small the audience. "Lack of sales" also hurts his brand as it could be viewed as a brand in serious decline. There are of course lawyers and contracts and myriad other issues that come into play so one has to be careful how they "explain" something like this. Sadly, no explanation may be the best approach because make no mistake, Buffett is first and foremost a businessman. It's not like the old days.

The only reason the west coast dates were taken off is because of the Landshark Stadium deal and the obligations that are going with it. Once that shakes out, than and only then will we(if we are lucky)get an explanation.

I hope he's not taking *poof*ing to a new level. That's not my kind of magic!

You know, a statement on the tour date page of the website would address the issue. Then Jimmy wouldn't have to bring up a "bad" topic before the concert.

There's no way the Stadium deal hasn't been in the works for a while. The final leg shouldn't have been announced - period. By announcing the final leg when it was announced and then changing his mind for a better deal what type of message is he sending to fans? What will happen the next time - will it be the NE shows? The Ohio show? Name the venue - they're all eligible at this point. It's a total lack of respect for the people that got him where he is today.

Hasn't he had plenty of opportunity to make an announcement. While I do hope he eventually does make said announcement there is something to be said about timing.

Here's how I'd do it:

I know many of the parrothead nation were concerned when dates were removed without any explanation. There are still matters we have to work out before we can make any official statement on the tour schedule. We do understand that some of our fans travel to our shows, so we removed the dates as quickly as we could to avoid additional fans from making travel plans. More to come.
