Well, last time we traded emails I told him I was busy with a parade July 4th, so.... :P
Maybe he was having trouble finding a gig here. Hey, my town has the oldest and biggest 4th of July parade west of the Mississippi....if London falls through maybe Jimmy could be our grand marshall. In the past we've had Shirley Jones, Johnny Grant, Elizabeth Dole, Jayne Mansfield, Mickey Rooney, and even FDR. This year we have the reining Miss America, but I'm sure she'd scooch over and let Jimmy ride along.
Cool! One town over from me is the oldest 4th of July parade east of the Mississippi (and I think the oldest in the country). :D

I think JB should fly out for yours. Or ours. Either way, he could still be in London on the 5th. :D

Well, since tickets never went on sale, I don't feel JB *owes* anyone an explanation for the cancelations but since there was a big video announcement it'd be nice if his PR people would put out a statement saying something as simple as "The decision was made to change some tour dates."

Unless of course that gaping hole in October is still destined to have a west coast date or two plugged in..... Still hoping, for my west coast buddies.

People have been saying maybe the 2 west coast shows were canceled because the October Vegas shows were canceled so it wasn't economically feasible to go all the way out to the west coast for 2 shows without also playing Vegas. Riddle me this. How is it economically feasible to make a transatlantic trip to do one show in a small venue in London then 2 1/2 months later make another transatlantic trip to do one show in Paris? The things I ponder sitting on a bench on the boardwalk while I'm checking out the bikinis.

Just heard J.D. Spradlin on RM, "live" talking about the October Vegas dates when he introduced the "summers-cool" song.
I guess part of "live" is pre-recorded?

(I just found that kinda funny in light of all the discussion...)

I'm not buying the Vegas not selling thing. I'm pretty certain they know that the May concert was largely made up of local folks having phun. The October dates are historically packed with folks who travel. I imagine they can look at the booking rates at MGM and the Flamingo and see that many people are travelling. The last few times I've been in Vegas, the planes were full and the streets were full. No one was gambling, but folks were drinking and partying.

Why doesn't Jimmy step up to the plate and do a press release and tell his fans what the hell is going on. I still do not understand why he cancelled the entire month of October. I can see cancelling one weekend in LV but why both. When he is in town playing Margaritaville has to make four times plus the revenue of a regular weekend, and from experience the store sells out of everything. The shelves are bare by Sunday. Besides the money he is making on ticket sales he is making millions over he weekend on food, booze and tee shirts.

I was thinking about this and I've come to a personal conclusion. It's not Jimmy, he has too much to deal with and probably isn't even sure what's on and what's off? It's the JB PR department that isn't doing what they should be doing. He hires and I'm sure pays a staff to deal with stuff like this, and they're dropping the Beach Ball on this one. His PR Department should have made sure that at least there was some information or reasons circulating to keep people from further speculation. At least entertain us with possibilities and thoughts. Do or say something about October! [smilie=hammerit.gif]

Pretty big stretch there...I have beeen going to LV to see JB since 96, and both spring and fall are always packed. I dont know who started this thing about fall being the "real" time he plays. He has split it up many times and has always packed the venue....

Fellow Boise parrothead, I drive a red silverado 2500, had those plates since 96. You a member of the TVPHC? We (quite a few members) dont like where they are heading/headed, so we might start another club. Keep you posted.

WoW! some of y'all are really serious.....

do any of you on the West coasters think that Buffett is too stupid to not know the uproar that cancelling these shows was going to bring?

He will either allow an explanation, or he won't. Very simple.

He doesn't owe any of us anything. He's a private person.

next thing, someone will be telling/suggesting what they want, or don't want him to play at his concerts....
