All that can be said is for the every person who doesnt go to a show now, or wont give his dollar to Jimmy...there is at least one other person who will be willing to pick up that end of the bill and fork over the dough. Its fun, its summer, its a lifestyle-----AND most importantly...Its a business.

Re: Not happy about the canceled West Coast Dates!
That's it, huh? Basically we "old faithfuls" were stupid enough to follow the drill- wait for the Vegas shows to be "tentatively" announced then buy airfare at reasonable prices. What the hell were we thinking??? Look I truly WANT to be an apologist for Jimmy on this one- I do, I do, I do.... but really! We're waiting here for something to hang our hat on from the home office---and this is it? Sounds like they had legal write this up... A) Not our fault, B) Not our fault, C) Spin the wheel and try us again next year... and it still won't be our fault.Wino you know wrote:Our cousins at the Margaritaville web site must see a fine line between DISAPPOINTED and ROYALLY P|SSED OFF.Salukulady wrote:West Coast October Shows Cancelled
Margaritaville.com has posted an announcement on the October 2009 tour dates that were originally announced back in February:
It has come to our attention that some fans have been disappointed to find that the shows tentatively scheduled for October are no longer going to happen due to unanticipated scheduling conflicts. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and look forward to seeing you back in Las Vegas and on the West Coast in 2010!
(There you have it, kids, the official announcement. Now doesn't that make us all feel better......)
Look why don't they just tell it the way it is. The memo from Margaritaville should have gone...
"Look guys- Jimmy's a businessman. He was trying to cover ALL his bases. He over-reached. Announced the dates WAY before he should've. The LandShark deal came through (just like he thought it would). And now he's gotta do his part and schmooze with his PR part of the deal. Oh, and they asked that jimmy block out all of October for Stadium appearances and such...and he said no problem!" End of story.
We will all survive this and live to tell the tale, blah, blah ,blah--that's not the issue. I'm just tired of all the apologists for this action. Sure if you want to get technical about it...yeah, we all probably should've waited for the ticket sale dates. Is that what most concert "travelers" do? Hell no. They take the tour announcements as a "commitment to appear" and jump on the Southwest site and get the cheapest tickets they can find. Period. Never been an issue before. Lesson learned for sure.
Let's just be honest here- that's all.

Re: Not happy about the canceled West Coast Dates!
This is the email I sent to Margaritaville.com and whoever reads the messages..... Not sure it will get to anyone who gives a blank? But, I had to respond to their non-respectable message to us as a whole, who are obviously nothing but a bunch of mushrooms hanging out in the dark and being fed manure...............
I'm sorry but your explanation as to why the so called "Tentative Concert Dates" were canceled is pretty lame to say the least. There's a lot of us out here that already went online and purchased non-refundable packages to make sure we could make the concert. Now, it's gone and all you have to say is "Sorry for the inconvenience."...There were many people that planned major events around the announced concerts, check out Buffettnews.com and you'll see. Have Jimmy check out the postings and he'll see exactly how many people have been affected. Then you come online and say, sorry but we'll see you in 2010. That doesn't hold a lot of anything, should we now make plans for 2010?
I think someone dropped a major "Beach Ball" on this one and there's quite a few of us that need to know what happened? If it's the Landshark Stadium deal so be it, but at least come out and say so! What other unforeseen conflictive dates could there be? There's nothing listed in October at all at this point. I don't think the people who were planning on going to any canceled West Coast Shows needs the build up to a big surprise announcement. Unless of course that the October shows are in fact going to happen.
This isn't my first Rodeo, so please be honest with the people and tell it like it is. It won't resolve a lot of travel plans, and special gatherings, etc. But, it just may resolve the issue of integrity as far as the JB Camp is concerned. Do the right thing and tell us what happened.
Thank you,

Tanker is here RR!!! Too bad you're not here to enjoy it with me!!
I've me a lot of BN people over the past couple of years and liked 99% of them.
I was very happy to meet you and had NO idea that you were like this.
I think that is very sad. Why do you spend so much time being negative and trying to insult people?

and that is OK
let's face this.. Jimmy Is not perfect.. He was born on the 25th of December
but there was no Camel SH!t on the lawn and no big star in the east..
and yet you NEVER seem to open your eyes to that fact..
AND that's OK
But
if you can't stand up to a ribbing once in a while.. I just don't know what to say..
it wasn't mean.. it was just a poke just, like the rest of BN
pokes fun at each other for our little faults..
If I had a fault, I could maybe give you an example
BTW in my circle it's not the ribbing that worries me.. we only kid who we like
it's when I get ignored.. that means that they do not like me..

First of all, I'm relatively sure there are people in the Margaritaville camp who scan these boards and have heard the unending complaints of yourself and a few others.
If they haven't viewed the threads yet, I hope they do come here to see that the majority of Jimmy's fans are grateful that he tours as much as he does, that we understand schedule changes may occur, and that we don't expect expect Jimmy to cater his plans to our self-serving interests.
I'm sorry that you might be out some travel costs...but hopefully you've learned the lesson not to book un-refundable flights or hotels for a concert (unless you are prepared to take the trip and enjoy a particular city without a show)
There is no loss of integrity here and Jimmy owes us no further explanation. It's time to accept the fact that October shows out west are not going to happen and move on (as most of us have).
Enjoying the memories of past concerts we've been to and looking forward to those that will happen in the future is a lot more fun than constantly complaining about one tentatively scheduled show which was canceled before it even became finalized.

Awww Dean....c'mon. Where in that big google earth announcement did Jimmy EVER say that all (or any) of these dates were tentative? That was an after the fact CYA move by M'ville...and a very poor one at that. I'm willing to bet that no one here has treated past tour announcements as tentative, so why would anyone think that when the man himself announced the dates this year?dean_siu wrote:constantly complaining about one tentatively scheduled show which was canceled before it even became finalized.

Re: Not happy about the canceled West Coast Dates!
I feel every concert is tentative until it happens....and extremely tentative until it goes on sale. Movie premiere dates are always changed, record release dates are revised, and concerts are canceled....its part of the entertainment industry. Especially when something is announced by any artist 8 months in advance.....its going to get changed quite frequently. Changes haven't happened that often in the past as shows were never announced until a few weeks ahead of time. But as we get dates further in advance, we have to realize that they are more apt to change.Brown Eyed Girl wrote:Awww Dean....c'mon. From the day of the announcement, I was telling people in the Vegas thread to book rooms directly with a casino if they were making reservations now so they could be canceled without penalty. I think its the wise thing to do for any advance reservations and I would definitely advice people making plans for the September or November shows this year to do the same thing.
If anyone doesn't view the November shows as tentative, you may be in for a surprise. I'm not saying these shows will be canceled, but I would give any show thats 6 months in the future at least a 10% chance of not happening.
