FYI....the Las Vegas Sun did a little story on this situation in Fridays edition.....
A spokeswoman at the MGM Grand reminded that Buffett was never officially booked to play at the hotel. Regardless, the news of tentative plans took off, as Parrot Heads rival Trekkers in their connectivity when swapping information about their artistic (and in most cases, spiritual) heroes.

wow, what a useless and shabby piece of writing that was in the Sun.
and, somehow, the hack writer manages to defend JB, by pointing out the the shows were never actually booked at the MGM,
but the maniacal 'Heads for some reason, booked trips to Sin City anyway.

I guess there's an obvious solution to us stupid people who book in advance for shows that are announced but aren't actually contracted for without us stupid people knowing the total inside negotiations or contractual thing that is happening. When there's an announced concert in Sin City, don't trust the announcement or make a booking in advance for anything. Obviously, it's Stupid to do! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

Gee, stupid us...going by JB's own posted concert dates. Guess it's a lesson learned. I will always contact the venue to confirm as I lost money I cannot afford. I am still really p.o.'d about this. This was not the JB of old. He keeps this type of bidness decisions up and I will only go to tailgates where I can see the phriends I have met and not spend one penny on a concert. Penny wise, pound foolish. Makin' a buck today and alienating Parrotheads. I always thought he was an awesome business man but it doesn't take an MB to realize this just might bite him in the a** in the long run. I expect people to be very hesitant to purchase tickets next year and that product sales will ultimately go down.

I think you're absolutely right about it being a very poor decision on JB's part! I know I've lost some spark and excitement about the whole thing. Kind of left a bad taste in the mouth. [smilie=sadtard.gif]

I popped up to Vegas back a few weeks ago for the show, but after a totally lame LMS, and a broiling scene out at M'ville alley (with PH's all taking refuge in the restaurant, and in the casino) when it came to looking for a scalped ducat, I just took another sip from my boat drink and thought, "F' this! I'm heading back to the pool!"

Turns out Vegas can still be pretty fun 8) :P ...even without Jimmy!

Please see new topic in this forum...."Guess who called Piratenurse about cancelled Vegas shows"...I used some quotes from here in an email I sent today to mville.com. Thought you all might be interested in the results of my endeavor. You will see there is a reason I have a new saying in my sig line now. :D

Glad to see PirateNurse finally got a response from the home office. Good job, PN- You rang someone's bell! At least there's been an acknowledgment of what a divisive and poorly handled issue this has been. And maybe it might be time to give this thing another look. Hell, we all screw up- even Jimmy B.

Oh, yeah- Jimmy & Co. screwed up big time--I don't care what anyone says-- and they know it. I just think legal begged them not to open that can of "apology" for fear of repercussions. In some weird, back door, round about way though- I do think they're apologizing. So in that same weird, back door, round about way-- what the hell, I accept. Phins Up.
