I'm confused... the tiki torches still shine - does that mean the tiki bar is open?

uh....yeah
right now.... I'd like to tell Jimmy what he can embraceand I totally agree. I was really counting on that San Diego show, and while that might not mean anything to anyone else, it was important to ME (for reasons I won't go into here). Sure we can still go to San Diego and hopefully catch up with the SD crew for a phlocking, but the show was part of the journey for us. These weren't rumored shows, these were announced just like the others. Adding the caveat "subject to change" after the fact doesn't mean *****. I wonder what the tone of this thread would be (and how many pages) if it were Chicago or Boston or Cincy or Nissan....that were supposedly on the chopping block?Maybe Jimmy's punishing us for not being true fans...

Look- it’s understood- this is a Jimmy Buffett FAN site. And none of us would even be here if we weren’t fans to begin with. And yes- it’s important to stand up for Jimmy and sing his praises and his songs and buy all his stuff and support the cause. We’ve done it for years- and everything points to it going on for quite a while longer.waikikimermaid wrote:WOW! THE PARROTTHEADS ARE p***!! I feel your frustration and disappointment! While it is a BIG bummer to have spent some money and planned vacations around tour date rumors or what we think are non-rumors... THIS IS LIFE... always subject to change! We have to learn to "roll with the punches" ! I think and am hoping, the dates and venues that were pulled, were to accommodate some exciting changes, such as Tahiti, Australia, and the South Pacific. I think it has less to do with the stadium deal than most people think, yeah there will probably be a couple of concerts announced for the stadium, near open season and maybe SUPERBOWL?!!! But hell, just be glad that Jimmy is getting us out to see the world! I know I am, ( of course I would be doing it without him, but it is much more fun when he makes an appearance in certain places as well). I hear this news with mixed emotions - Jimmy is always talking about disappearing to that "One Particular Harbor - BUT NOT YET! WELL MAYBE THIS IS IT!!! Be glad for where we have been and where we may still go in the future!!! HERE IS TO THE ADVENTURE - EMBRACE IT!!!
I know some of us wouldn't be as upset had we gotten an explanation within a reasonable time frame. If I'm not mistaken they were pulled off Margaritaville on the 8th, or that's the date I heard. I heard about it on the 11th and it was gone then.TraderRick wrote:Look- it’s understood- this is a Jimmy Buffett FAN site. And none of us would even be here if we weren’t fans to begin with. But it’s also important to call a spade a spade. Nothing more to do about it now but sit back and wait to hear what Buffett Headquarters has to say about all this. I'm sure we’ll all survive the trauma just fine. But c'mon, Bubba- we wanna believe!! We're counting on you...seriously.
The dates are gone from the list, but the video announcing them is still on the google earth plug-in.ph4ever wrote:I know some of us wouldn't be as upset had we gotten an explanation within a reasonable time frame. I think it is more directed at the folks posting "blow it off" type posts. And it is a valid point: if one of the big shows got shotgunned, the annoyance factor would be pretty high. I may be wrong, but the lack of an Alpine show so Jimmy "play two" at Wrigley wasn't met with a lot of "oh well, good for Chicago"SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I don't blame any of you for being angry, but there are several posts that are aiming a good deal of that anger at the east coast. Thanks RR, that's exactly what I meant by my post, I'm sorry if it wasn't clear. Jen, you know I'd never blame the east coasters for something they certainly have no control over. But face it, among *some* there is an attitude of entitlement that certain parts of the country 'deserve' shows more than others. And I'm willing to bet that those telling us to blow it off and get over it would be screaming louder than any of us if their precious venue was axed.RinglingRingling wrote:I think it is more directed at the folks posting "blow it off" type posts.
