Don't even know how big yet, but I've lived here my whole life, been thru many, and that was BIG!

Preliminary reports say it was 5.0, and no major damage reported.
Let's all hope to God that's true.

Yeah, not as big as it felt. This one didn't roll. just a big bang and lots of shaking for about 15 seconds.....kinda rattled me, yikes!

I'm glad you're okay.
The last major quake I experienced was 1978 in Taiwan.
I was on the 9th floor of my hotel lying in bed at 9:30 AM. I can't ever remember feeling more helpless.

Here's hoping there's no aftershocks anywhere in CA and everyone stays safe.

Thanks, I'm just hoping that wasn't a pre-shock :o

I hope not either.
My step son lives in Ridgecrest, CA-about 100 miles east of Bakersfield.
That wasn't close to the epi-center, was it?

They're saying the epi-center was near LAX, I doubt he even felt it.

Yeah, we were rocking there for a bit.

Then they show on the local news what happened. A liquor store had a bunch of wine bottles broken and on the floor. I am sure the workers there threw them on the floor and stole some since you can’t inventory them now.

I definitely felt it down here in San Diego. It was strong, but only lasted about 5-6 seconds.

What do you mean you can't inventory them now? Or are you saying just because the bottles are broken you can't tell how many there were to start with?

Sure you can. Count the number of corks/caps; there's only one per bottle. 22 corks/caps means 22 broken bottles.

However, a smart thief would have had a few extra corks/caps on hand and tossed them into the mess. But as many of the TV 'reality video' crime shows prove, most crooks generally don't think that far ahead.....

They just reported the earthquake was on the Newport/Inglewood fault line. That's the same fault line that did so much damage in the 1933 Long Beach quake. It runs directly under my house. No wonder it felt so strong to me.
