Let's see,
Airfare to Paris: $800;
renting a car for a few days to go see friends, a longish way from Paris: $300 (or taking the train and seeing fewer friends along the way, same price);
someplace to stay while in Paris, 2 or 3 nights: minimum $400;
eating and drinking....;
and, oh yeah, the concert ticket, if available.....
(all prices in Can$)...
is it worth it to spend $2000?
Is Jimmy worth it? Is Paris worth it? Am I worth it?
In reverse order....
Yes! Absolutly you are worth it!!!
Paris is a cool town
Jimmy is fun, But really just an excuse to see friends and travel a bit......

Compared to the southern US - a little on the chilly side....... September can be beautiful but its a little unpredictable. Despite the shorter days its actually a good time to visit. Paris is a city you should walk around and for that you definately dont want to be too hot.
In short - bring a fleece, a pair of walking shoes and a brolly.........
I have the shoes and the fleece but a "brolly" ?? Sounds like something my wife wouldn't let me have...

Good job you are not going to London - you would have trouble with the language

Now that London is in our memory - even if we are all still buzzing - I started to think about Paris.......
Just booked my hotel and wanted to share a great bargain with any of you that havent booked yet.
If you are staying 3 nights or more you get 30% off at the Ibis when you book via http://www.ibishotel.com
I booked the Ibis Sacre Coeur and it is only 10 doors away from La Cigale!
The whole booking cost 178 euro which even at todays bad exchange rate is £51 per night - very very cheap for Paris!! The Ibis will never win any prizes for luxury but we always use them when we are travelling as they are clean, tidy and have decent size beds....... I never can work out why the french have really narrow beds that sink in the middle
