I think you would do well to come to Europe with carry on for more than a few days. remember you can not take any liquids on board more than 100ml. And unlike the states where you could buy most things cheaply Paris is reallyyyyyyy exspensive. You will probably find that by the time you clear immigration in France your luggage will be waiting for you. David is right about luggage - after an international flight it doesnt take long to retrieve your case. On the subject of whats in your luggage - its getting a little chilly here the last two days - so pack a fleece to put over your t-shirts at the very least!!

American's in general are very insular, very few have passports. Buffett fans are better than most but you won't find many posts about outside the US.
