for the english teachers.....

Post by mason »

....or teacher in you. while your out and about this week, take a look at a magazine titled....the economist. i am referring to the front cover. look it over carefully. i am referring to a word that i think has no real use, but i could be wrong. this mag might be found at a magazine stand and possibly any high end grocery store you might do business with.

That's a mysterious comment. The Economist is a British magazine, so perhaps your reaction is all about Anglo-American differences. But I won't know until (or if) my husband brings it home from work.....

learnt?

MW Online says:

Main Entry:learnt
Pronunciation:\ˈlərnt\
chiefly British past and past participle of learn

if that's the word you're referring to...and believe me, I used dogpile.com to search for the cover. Not a magazine I'd flip through in the check out line...kudos to those that would...

no magazine stands around here and Publix would be considered our high end grocery, Petty's Fine Foods, Tulsa, OK...is the highest end grocery store I've ever shopped..

although I have stayed at a Holiday Inn, just not recently.

Yes, if your mystery phrase involves "learnt", that is an acceptable British spelling.
