We camped last year for a weekend at the State Park Campgrounds. We
have an RV and like to be able to hook up to electric. There are only a
limited number of electric sites. They will not take a reservation so it is
first come first served and if the campground is full they will not let you
take any type of camper over on the ferry. The good thing is that there is a
taxi that runs often into town so that part is really convenient. Also, with
the phlocking slated for the beginning of June - hopefully the campground
will not be full and anyone who needs a site will get one. We plan on
bringing our RV over on the ferry to the campgrounds. One, more thing - they
are really strict on noise in the campgrounds - so you have to get all of the
loud fun out of your system before you go back to the campground - but
camping is an alternative!

There is great camping and places to stay on St. Hazards Beach oon middle bass island.. They have a web site and Thursday nights are FREE. 4 person cabins are 80 bux a night for fri and sat night. So if you stay all 3 nights its only like 160 total.. Thats only 40 bux each...!!! Not a bad deal plus they have pool. hot tub, etc...... The web site is.. Sainthazardsbeach.com

Jeff and I used to camp at the State Park for the first few flockings about
8 years ago. This is the only campground on South Bass Island. There are
private camp grounds but they are on the other islands or on the main land.
We camped in tents and enjoyed it. You can't beat the price at $18 a night
per site! The State Park DOES NOT take reservations at all!!! This is the
policy of all Ohio State Parks. It is first come, first served to get a
site. Last year they tried phone in reservations but have gone back to the
no reservation policy. They only have 125 non-electric sites, and 10 sites
with water and electric. The park also has cabins for rent but those are on
a lottery system. The campground will fill up by Friday and some times by
Thursday. A trick is to find some one to go on Wednesday and to get a site
put up a tent and leave, you must have a tent or camper on the site as soon
as you get it or you will loose it.
If you are tent camping be warned, the Island is basically a rock carved out
by glaciers. So most campsites can be very rocky. But the park is on the
south side and it sits on a plato over looking the lake. My friends and I
would always try to get a site right on the edge for the view.
Now for some of the rules:? There is a maximum of 6 adults per site.
? Pets must be on a leash at all times, and may not be left
unattended. There is a maximum of 2 pets per site. Pets must have current
rabies vaccine, and be wearing an identification tag.
? Ground fires must be contained in fire rings provided by the park.
Do not move fire rings.
? Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please be
considerate of fellow campers at other times.? NO, I MEAN NO ALCOHOL!!!
This is a State Park (Family Campground) and they are very, very strict on
the quiet hours, and no alcohol! They park rangers are state law enforcement
officers, and WILL give out tickets, and they also have arresting powers!
Over all, the park is very nice and we enjoyed staying there. Just do all
your partying in town.South Bass Island State Park(419) 285-2112

There is a RV/Camping/Tent Park on the road leading to the Airport. I'm sure the Chamber could give you the info on it! I think it fills pretty fast during the summer.

I rode all over the island last year on the motocycle. That is if there
was a road I went on it and found only the state park.

it has camping according to the park site.
South Bass Island The family campground features 125 non-electric sites, and
10 full service sites with electric, water and sewer hook-ups. The
campground offers flush toilets, showers, and a dump station.
Lists the 125 sites as $18/night Electric $22
Check it out. who knows what is reserved...
Hell I may try this next year myself
