George Strait opens new Cowboys' Stadium.
"King George" (and Oklahoma's own Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton) have opened the palatial new home of the 2009 Super Bowl Champions.
Any chance JB plays CS in '10?

Strait, McEntire open new Cowboys Stadium

More than 60,000 country music fans poured into the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas Saturday to help George Strait, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Texas native Lee Ann Womack inaugurate the new home of the Dallas Cowboys.
Strait, 57, and his Ace in the Hole band opened their 100-minute set with "Write This Down" and "I Want to Dance with You," as fans in far away seats watched on two 159-foot video screens, the Dallas Morning News reported. At one point during the show, he showed off the retractable rectangular roof on the top of the $1.1 billion stadium.
Julianne Hough had been scheduled to perform but cancelled due to illness, and was replaced by Womack.
Strait has sold more albums than almost any artist in the history of recorded music, falling behind only the Beatles and Elvis Presley in record music sales. "King George," as he is known in country music circles, was recently honored by the Academy of Country Music as the Artist of the Decade.

Re: George Strait opens new Cowboys' Stadium.
Anyone think there's any chance Buffett will eschew Frisco's Pizza Hut Stadium for the Cowboys' palace in '10, and, if so, can he put 60,000 butts in seats there?
If he does play Cowboys Stadium, I'll be there. 'Twud be awesome.

Yes, but this isn't just a stadium -- it's a palace, and, since the Cowboys play there (or will), it's a sacred shrine, too

Re: George Strait opens new Cowboys' Stadium.
While I'm glad I was there, I won't be back for a show - not even Bubba's.
IMHO, the sound is actually worse than Texas Stadium, despite what the Dallas Morning News people said. No one around me could understand a word. If I hadn't known the lyrics, I would have been sunk. The bands' sound was muddied pretty badly, too. The only things that really stood out were a piano solo in Reba's set and the fiddle in "Amarillo by Morning." Maybe the sound was better from a distance, but from what I'm reading on the blogs, it pretty much sucked even up to the nosebleed seats - and I do mean nosebleed. Those suckers are up there in the stratosphere, but when the roof opened, I'll bet they had a great view of the full moon.
The venue looks more like a corporate headquarters than a football stadium. It's very cushy, especially on the private suites floor. We were taken on a "media" tour and got to see some of the behind the scenes action. I told Mr. Mojito that I would go again on the following conditions:
1. We got a ride to the door.
2. We had a "suite" pass for the elevators. (This is critical.)
3. We could sit in the "suite" seats.
4. We were picked up at the door after it was over and had access to an "express" lane. (They don't have express lanes yet, but I expect that owner Jerry Jones will try to make it happen for his "suite" peeps. All the perks in the building [private bars, elevators, restrooms] are for the people who have "suite tickets" [larger than regular ones, of course]).
The jumbotron is amazing, as were the "smaller" screens.
Security was everywhere. They threw out a drunk next to us and then got several others who were "wandering aimlessly" past the stage.
Getting to and from the venue is going to be a nightmare, I'm afraid. We were there at 2:00, due to the media stuff, so it wasn't too bad. However, it took us almost an hour to get from the venue to SH 360 ... a distance of about 2 miles.
Not that this really matters to concert goers, but I look for changes in the way they handle photographers at future shows. There was no photo pit. The shooters - from print and TV - were herded onto the floor for the first two songs of each act (normal), were escorted out (normal), but could only shoot from the 15th row (so not normal). I haven't seen what our guy shot yet, but he said he was able to get some good ones, despite the distance.
Despite a very stern warning from our hosts, everyone in the audience had cameras. The performers took time to "strike a pose" for the fans, which was a nice touch.
I can't even imagine what it was like inside the "pro shops." Every time we passed one, fans were jammed in like sardines.
Lee Ann Womack was a real trooper. She went on at 5:30 or so and was singing to an almost-empty house.
Blake Shelton was nervous, but endearing. He did a GREAT cover of the "FreeCreditReport.com" song.
Reba is such an entertainer. She rocked the crowd with a lot of favorites, but she had me with two ballads, "Still" and "Because of You." Her back up singer should be cutting her own records. She's that good.
George Strait can have anything I own.

You, however, came through loud and clear!
Just in case anyone's interested. Strait's cheekbones could shave ice, his eyes are the color of morning glories and he still makes those stacked Wranglers look good.
While both men are incredible entertainers, Bubba and George are smart enough to surround themselves with GREAT musicians who are totally in sync with each other and the boss.

I have a somewhat kind of similar effect on the females. I make eye contact with women, smile at them. They swoon and make a face as if they just smelled spoiled milk.

Not to spread doom and gloom, but I look at a picture like this and my mind immediately starts thinking about "Black Sunday". Why would terrorists need to fly airliners into buildings when there are targets like this on any given Sunday??
