I'm happy for you that they answered your email. That said there were an awful lot of emails that have gone unanswered. Mine included, and we used the same email address you did.
Be interesting to know what yours said that got their attention.

Well, let's see...I believe there was some mention of JB forgetting his roots, that the best phriends make the worst enemies, that I would push for all my fellow Parrotheads to just tailgate and skip the concert/merchandise, that karma is a b*tch (see Trump Marina), don't write songs about the economy scr*wing us and do it yourself, that it must be all about bidness now, that I doubted anyone reading it would give a rats a** anyway. Oh, there was a little something about a double dog dare for the underlings to run it up the ladder to the big boys and a triple dog dare to call me back. That was about it.pair8head wrote:I'm happy for you that they answered your email. That said there were an awful lot of emails that have gone unanswered. Re: Who called Piratenurse about cancelled Vegas dates? Updated
The more and more I think about this whole situation, the more and more I come to the conclusion that Jimmy Buffett may well have been between a rock and a hard place, with no good solution. (We've all been there at least once in our lives; no matter what you do, it hurts or upsets someone.) If indeed it was a business decision, JB probably wouldn't be in any position to offer an explanation to the public. He may have had the crappy choice of p*ssing off his fans or keeping his fans happy and p*ssing off business associates. The latter might have cost people their jobs. Not working with any insider information here, just thinking over all that's been said (and not said) over the last few weeks. I doubt we'll ever hear a full explanation (and I stand by my opinion that we're in no way owed one) but I suspect this wasn't a particularly easy decision.
Carry on as you know they would want you to do. ~~JB, dedication to Tim Russert

Good to hear....I am one of those with non-refundable packages......it's not that spending five days in Vegas will be torture or anything, but our entire "Utah Girls Gone Wild" group is just terribly disappointed that we'll have to resort to Donny & Marie or some other such heinous Vegas act for entertainment.

We just have to create our own entertainment. I know Parrotheads are not known for creativity, but hey, we can give it a try.pbans wrote:Good to hear....I am one of those with non-refundable packages......it's not that spending five days in Vegas will be torture or anything, but our entire "Utah Girls Gone Wild" group is just terribly disappointed that we'll have to resort to Donny & Marie or some other such heinous Vegas act for entertainment.
SGH, regarding the tough business decision, as I posted before, this little issue should be filed under lessons learned on both sides. Next year (and at least I now know there will be a next year, per Howard), let's not commit our time and money so far in advance, as much as we want to jump on good airfare rates, etc. Let's have phun planning, but hang on tight to our wallets and purses until tix are on sale. On the other side of the fence, I feel pretty confident they will never again release concert dates they cannot honor.

I've seen Bette's Vegas show, but if you haven't, you must go. When she sang "When a Man Loves a Woman", the hair on my arms stood on end, literally. That has never happened to me and I've seen my fair share of live performances. She had always been on my very short list of entertainers I wanted to see live and I was not disappointed. Any recommendations for other shows?fabduo wrote:Go see Bette Midler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not too worried about being blackballed. Doubt they want to go there with me. They haven't seen me redhead mad yet. It's not pretty. When I am on a mission....well, did I mention I'm a little redhead with a really, really big mouth?
And being a firm believer in plan B, I have a new secret IP since my old ones used my previous name. Always good to have an ace up your sleeve.

You're probably right, Jen. After reflecting on all the info/opinions offered on the various threads, I'm inclined to agree with Wayne, Dean and others who said that MGM may be playing a large part in this whole ordeal. If they did choose not to renew Jimmy's contract or something happened with negotiations between the two parties, it may have provided Jimmy with the chance to pursue something that he might not otherwise have attempted had the deal already been inked. It is kind of the chicken/egg scenario though....we may never know what happened first to lead to the domino effect. Or maybe Jimmy did just sell us out.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:The more and more I think about this whole situation, the more and more I come to the conclusion that Jimmy Buffett may well have been between a rock and a hard place, with no good solution. Now, if the MGM is no longer an option for Jimmy, maybe we'll see him onstage with Celine in her theater!

Just goes to show that some well stated thoughts can produce wonderful results. Glad to hear that M'ville responds to some emails. And I truly believe that Jimmy was well aware of all decisions made, and the potenial impacts. Remember, business is business and usually comes first!
