Massage Envy
I've just heard about this new business and there is one in my area. Has anyone out there used them? Any info on their fees? I'm in desperate need of a serious trigger point massage and if I can find one for less than $150/hour, I'll be in heaven.
Thanks,
CB

Re: Massage Envy
i've been to massage envy numerous times...
down here, the first massage is like $50/hour. they will try to talk you into joining - which is one massage a month for 50 and then it is like 35 for any massage after that.
i never joined and was able to keep getting $50 massages there....

Re: Massage Envy
It's a franchise joint. The one near the house has always advertised $39 introductory massage for 1 hour. I remeber seeing signs at other ones saying intro massage was $29. I think all the Houston area ones start at $39/hour intro now. I have never been, but there have been times when my back was killing me that I thought about trying it out.

Re: Massage Envy
I was just checking in to see if there's been a "happy ending" reference yet.
I knew you guys wouldn't let me down
I've never paid for a massage. That's what wives are for
or maybe I paid and did not know it

Re: Massage Envy
Cinda-I lucked into a whole 'nuther avenue for trigger point massage. My pain management doctor has a massage therapist that works for him as needed. Since deep tissue massage has recognized theraputic value, my insurance actually paid for the visit. All I paid was my regular $20 copay for a 30-40 minute visit. Please note that this was not the "spa" type treatment with aromatherapy and relaxing music. It's in a clinical setting, but still performed by a certified massage therapist. Believe me, I UNDERSTAND the need for deep tissue massage. I hope this information helps you.CindaBee wrote:I've just heard about this new business and there is one in my area. Re: Massage Envy
Thanks, it does! Actually, I'm working on getting referred to a pain management center here also. I used a massage tool (YES, IT'S ACTUALLY A REAL MASSAGE TOOL, NOT A "MASSAGE" TOOL FOR ALL YOU PERVERTS OUT THERE) on my shoulders the last two days so deep that it has left bruises, so now I'm in a real mess. lol. Re: Massage Envy
Another option: try to locate a massage therapy school. Granted these are students but you can usually get a massage for free or a very discounted rate.

Re: Massage Envy
Yeah, not much of a joiner myself. Have spent way to much money on memberships that I never used. The massage school tip is a good one also. Is there such a thing as a bad massage?flipflopgirl wrote:I have never been to the one near me, a friend has and said that the massage was good but that they REALLY pushed for her to join...i won't go there!

Re: Massage Envy
Found one when referred by another Phriend nearby in East County SD,
and I was pretty happy with whole experience, overall.
I signed up, and now that I've been dealing with this "cell phone" elbow ailment, (yeah, it's real)
I've found a pretty effective masseuse there, Liz
, who hits all the right spots, and
it's a pretty good value now that I hit the table every other week

Yup, a bad massage is when you walk out in more pain then when you went in.

Re: Massage Envy
I found one who works out of a chiropractor's office. (I've never been to the chiropractor) She is very good with the trigger points. I did my lower back in right before the bead show last week. I went to her the day before I left and by the time I got to Milwaukee I was cruising just fine. That elbow of hers is kinda excruciating during, but sooo effective.phjrsaunt wrote:Cinda-I lucked into a whole 'nuther avenue for trigger point massage. This office offers three 50 minute massages for $99.00. I pretty much go every other week. It isn't something that was "prescribed" for me so I pay. If I had a prescription, I think it would be covered by my insurance. It's kinda like Aunties...no spa environment...tho she does play a soothing CD.
