Things are getting a little crazy around my job with the US Open coming to Bethpage Black next week as I am only about a mile or so away from the course. There have already been the road closures and celeb sitings and the practice rounds don't even start till Monday!! The likes of Justin Timberlake and Michael Jordan have been spotted around the Farmingdale area and supposedly Tiger is here and borrowing (renting) someone's house near the golf course already. Not to mention the increase of jets flying into Republic airport as god knows who arrives.
How many people live around or have been caught up in the hoopla that comes with these mega sporting events that seem to shut down entire towns while they are underway?

I live in Hampton Bays -so when the US Open was at Shinnecock -it was a zoo between the usual idiots that come to the hamptons -we had even more!!!! My husband got to go to see the final in person -he loved it!! I tried to stay locked in my house during that time.

I had lunch at the same restaurant and time as Chaz (Who is Kaizer Soze) Palminteri today in Denver. He's in A Bronx Tale playing here in Denver.

There are people around the course renting the front laws out for parking and everyone who lives in the area has to get a special pass so they can get to their houses because of the road closures, its going to be insane.

I live about 15 minutes from Medina CC in Addison, Illinois. When the PGA was here a couple of years ago, it was a little crazy on Thursday and Friday. We did get to see the Snoopy Blimp flying over our house everyday on it's way to the golf course. Never saw anyone famous though....

Horn just sounded. Looks like they may need to break out the canoes.

Depends where you live.
I live about a mile from Bay Hill, so we get the tournament crowd every year
They close off the streets of Bay Hill to residents only that week and run tour busses from Universal Studios for spectators (a couple miles from the course)
We see some golfers in the local upscale restaurants, but not much else changes.
My dad is a member at Crooked Stick, and he says there is some disruption when the big tournaments are there (US Senior Open is there next month)
Super Bowl in Tampa earlier this year caused some disruptions over there, but not that much

You can say that again, it is really pouring here, if it keeps up like this I'm not sure they are going to get any more play in today.
