Friday or Monday Off for Holiday?

I, and most people I know, have Friday off for the 4th Holiday and while I don't have a problem with having a day off, I wonder...would it be better to have Monday off instead?
I figure, Friday's are good anyway (TGIF and all that) and Mondays just plain s**.
So, would you prefer to have Friday or Monday off?

We get Friday; which is OK by me, I can put some miles on the bike, and maybe spend some time down at our local
Riverfest celebration.

The company I work for is open both days with a split crew. I chose to be off Monday

I see your logic. If I was staying home, probably the Monday. But, I'm going to the beach and taking Monday off anyway. At least it's wrapped around a weekend. Those Wednesday holidays sort of blow.

My wife has Friday off.
I'm one of the few at my job that have to work the holiday but right now I'm off until Saturday because of my work schedule anyway so why should I complain? It's gonna be really slow but I'm cool with getting paid double time to watch dvds all day. As long as I'm home in time to watch the rednecks nearly burn the neighborhood down again I'm fine.

Might as well.
Last year their launching tube fell over and launched a big one that exploded down the street.
Afterwards it was funny but for a second or two it was kinda scary.

this year authorities are predicting a lot of fireworks related fires because of the dry conditions (imagine dry conditions in Seattle but I digress....). I'm thinking about wetting down my roof, trees and yard over the next couple of days.

Ditto, but I'd take either Monday or Friday. This past weekend I'd have LOVED Monday off to get some much needed SLEEP!

I think the sort-of, kind-of standard rule is that for a moving, date related holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday, you get Friday off if the holiday is on Friday, and Monday off if the holiday is on Sunday.
So next year, when July 4 is on Sunday, we will (mostly) get Monday off.
Same with Christmas, New Year's in general when they fall on a weekend.
I just don't like it when it is on a Wednesday. No hope for an 'extra' day off. Like if it is Tues. we might close the office for Monday and make a 4 day weekend or same with Thursday holiday and close Friday. But Wednesday?? No luck.
