An Updated Hits Comp Would Be Nice
I've always wondered, why doesn't JB release a hits or best of comp that is updated? As in, has tracks from 1993's Another Saturday Night to 2006's TTWWY. I've got my own best of but it's way too long but it's a great comp nonetheless. I included Everybody's Talkin' and Sea Cruise as well. Has anyone else done something like that? I listen to it more than anything else.

Doesn't Meet Me in Margaritaville cover a lot of that territory?

Other artists have done second albums of "Greatest Hits", or a "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" album. Jimmy could do the same. Personally, since "SYKBH" seems to be the de facto "Greatest Hits" album, I'd recommend a "Vol 2" with songs since then rather than recompiling the yellow album.

Re: An Updated Hits Comp Would Be Nice
Although lots of people compile THEIR OWN C.D.s of their choices of greatest hits, I think it would be nice and very intresting to read what everyone's selections would be for their list of their favorite songs. (Keeping it at around 25 or so).
Also, keep in mind that what one person likes may not necessarily be the favorite of someone else.
So, the answer to the original question here, for me, would be YES.

I am going to have to take a look at my Margaritaville mix on my Ipod and get back to you on this one. My mix is at 47 songs.Wino you know wrote:Although lots of people compile THEIR OWN C.D.s of their choices of greatest hits, I think it would be nice and very intresting to read what everyone's selections would be for their list of their favorite songs. I'd love to read your choices, and that of anyone else.
I enjoy that as much as I enjoy reading people's choices for their ideal set list.
I've made some C.D. copies to listen to in the car, a few just general compilations.
But I've also made C.D.s of:
1970's ballads
1980's ballads
1990's ballads
2000's ballads
Covers
Jimmy & others (such as 5:00 somewhere, and Alan Jackson's version of Margaritaville with Jimmy)
One just called "STUFF."
One of some of my wife's favorite Jimmy Buffett songs
And one of "Jimmy from A to Z songs. (Apocolypso, Biloxi, Come to the Moon, Dreamsickle, Everybody's Got A Cousin In Miami, etc).
(I'm still waiting for him to put out a song that begins with "X" and "Z."
Re: An Updated Hits Comp Would Be Nice
I've been making a mix for the car since 1991. After 2000 I had to give in and do them on CD. I miss the cassette tape. Now I am up to 17 CD mixes including re editing the tape versions. I throw in other artist here and there on each edition. Even "Under The Sea" and "Kiss The Girl" from Little Mermaid.

You're welcome.Frank4 wrote:Some even better ideas then I had...thanks
Just be sure to send me any copy/copies of any discs you make.
Re: An Updated Hits Comp Would Be Nice
MMIM didn't really touch on it. If I'm not mistaken, the most recent tune on that is Barefoot Children. His updated Volcano and SOAS stink. The other tunes he recorded, like Captain and Saophones, were good, as well as Everybody's Talkin'. The Beach Boys tune stunk as well but whatever. A lot of other more recent tunes (1990s) were ignored. That's my point - start with Another Saturday Night and go through to Take The Weather With You.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a best of without the usual? Marg, CIB, etc...?

But those would be added to help sales of the CD.Wino you know wrote:Yes.JustDucky wrote:Wouldn't it be nice to have a best of without the usual? Marg, CIB, etc...?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Yes, Ravi, but there are a ton of his C.D.s WITHOUT those songs that have sold quite well.

I always looked at MMIM at SYKBH 2.
But what do I care how much another greatest hits cd would sell when I can just make my own?

Re: An Updated Hits Comp Would Be Nice
Would be nice if there was a remaster of the old stuff. Many of the CD's are poor 1980's mastering.
